Good morning quick question I am putting a power steering pump that was previously on a small block onto a big block I have changed the brackets over from a small block to a big block so it fits on the pump only problem is it doesn't line up with the pulley it needs to be about a police with towards the radiator is there a different pulley from a big block to a small block also is the spacing different? Could anyone give me a measurement from the edge of the pulley to the neck of the power steering unit it is a Saginaw I will send a picture of it

Yes it requires a new pulley... go on over to 440source.com. They have a new saginaw pulley for big blocks. It is easy to change this pulley over. Just a nut, slide the old pulley off and slide on the new one.

Thank you very much so there is a difference between a small block pulley and a big block pulley? Also is the big block pulley smaller in diameter because the belt is very close to hitting the water pump pulley on the bottom side

Yes there is a difference in offset between the two pulleys. Unfortunately I dont know the difference in diameters. I had a friend install power steering onto a big block A-body and there was plenty of things he found out the hard way going through that process. The folks at 440source may know, or someone else here may be able to chime in.

Not sure about any diameter difference, mine are the same, not saying either are correct, but, those pulleys can be easily bent to line them up. The easiest way is to remove it and put it in a press, it doesn’t take much effort. Put it back on and check it for runout. I’ve done it a couple of times.

The diameters do vary, generally the bigger-heavier cars had a smaller diameter pulley.
AKA it ran faster on the big cars to make more pressure.

That makes sense because the big pulley that's on there will make the belt hit the bottom side of the water pump pulley
