In my 69RR, I will be dropping the trans next week and replacing it. There may be a couple of days between the time the old trans comes out and the new one goes in. Are there any precautions I need to take to support the motor while the trans is out? Or are the motor mounts and torque strap (schumacher engineering) enough to hold it in place?

I'd put a 2x4 across the inner fenders near the cowl.

Chain it to the back of the intake, or back of the heads.

I did this on my 73 but used a scissors jack on one side so I could raise and lower the back end of the engine, helping with the trans alignment.

It will hit the firewall without support...if you have a spare floor jack take a short 2 x 6 place some rags over it so as to not scratch or rub the paint. Then use that to support the bottom of the pan......

I was afraid of that. I was hoping the torque strap would hold it in place and keep it from rocking back against the firewall. I will rig something up as I many need to move the car around without the trans in it.

I used a 1/2" piece of solid wood, the width of the pan, between the pan and center link. Let it rest on there.

I built this light weight tubing support years ago. Hangs off the torsion bars, height adjustable. Just put under the oil pan.

I don't trust hydraulic jacks, I use a scissor jack.

The design I created in post #6 would work with a wood 2x4 as well.

I made this a few years ago. Hooks up on the frame rails.
