Hi there,
Anyone know the best way to get this out if it is basically seized and stripped? It is not straight in the little hole but rather just above so I can't really get an Allen key on it straight. Seems stripped and seized.

Should I drill it out? Seems very hard to do.
Should I use an air hammer or something from inside?

Not sure what bolt your talking about , If its an allen type bolt they are usually hard as hell and you will pay the devil to drill it out, maybe try a ball end hex wrench and tap it in , try an sae size and metric see if one will wedge in it.
Without seeing the bolt I can only guess how to get it out . a picture would help.
I would hold off on the air hammer for now.

Be careful applying to much torque on a ball-end of an Allen key wrench....some are different angled tapers, and you will only succeed in chewing out the head, making removal more difficult. Lubricating penetrant, then try with the short straight end of an Allen Key.

A picture would be useful.

Only the penetrant man shall pass...

:D

There is no Allen head anything originally in a vent window frame. Are you talking about the pin on the vent window pivot shaft or handle? If so it has to be driven out......

Sorry guys better description...

It is the front quarter window of my 69 GTX.
There is a black button on the door that you remove to access what I have looked into as being an Allen key. Really cannot see it or take a photo. Essentially right below the lever on the quarter window.

I have sprayed with penetrant and done what I can to take it easy but it will not budge. I can turn it but it is simply turning the back bolt or clip as well.

I will attempt a photo but don't believe I can really get one the will show anything.

That is what I was using.... See my better description below.
Access is the door is very tight fit this.

I know what you are talking about. The Coronet had a similar problem. I had a spare metric size that was just a tad larger than the standard. I carefully touched the flats on a grinder and each time tried to drive it into the bolt. It was not that difficult to get it down to the size where it would drive in. Between the hammering and the tight fit it broke loose.

Ahh now I know what you are referring to....it has a that small Allen head bolt and a small rectangular plate it screws into.....is it your Allen head tool is stripped or the bolt?

Not sure if it's stripped out just not a great angle. Allen key is not stripped.

Because of the angle I can only use the rounded end but it does grab good but I cannot get enough leverage on it. Maybe I need to get a smaller key that I can fit inside the door to access. I don't think it would be difficult if the bolt was lined up with the hole but it is basically above the hole so I cannot get the Allen key in straight.

Here is what I do.....insert it and on the short vent end of the wrench use a pair of pliers to get more torque

Curious about this as I had the vent window out of my charger and don t remember. Does your restoration thread have a pic?

Nah I haven't posted or even started a thread yet. Started pulling things apart in the driveway but have put in on hold for a bit while I finish the garage to get it moved in there. Drywall on Monday so should have it in there by end of October.

I’ve had them be off from the access hole just like your problem. Cut an Allen wrench short enough to go in behind the door and insert in the Allen bolt straight on.

Photo of the Allen bolt that doesn’t exist. LOL

Try to tap in a Slightly larger torx bit into bolt head to grab any edges that might be there.

It is the allen headed bolt accessible through the small hole in the upper metal door panel. Suppose to be a finish plug in the hole. Right under the vent window.

We had the exact same problem on my 68 Satty. Why the hell the factory couldn't put the access hole with the rubber plug directly in line with the allen head???? Had a hard time even finding which allen wrench to try. We wound up using a air hack saw that has the blade coming out the end. Not sure just where it was cut off because someone else actually did it. Got to it by taking off the door upholstery panel and into the large access opening. .....................MO
