Can the converter cause engine to shake?

Is this possible? My engine sometimes gets a more-than-normal shake, at idle in gear, foot off the gas in forward or reverse. Some throttle and it smoothes out. After things get heated up it doesn't seem to happen. Two different engine builds, different carbs at various mixture settings, different ignition systems....everything's been changed in one way or another, not to try to eliminate the shake, but just upgrades for more power & efficiency. The 727 was rebuilt last year, it was happening before that too. So it donned on me....the only thing thing that has been a constant on my car, is that b&m holeshot 2400 converter. Not a huge deal, I live with it but I don't think it's normal. Maybe it's just a little too tight for 452 cubes with the 231°@.050 cam? I know a quality built converter would've been a better move but it's what I had. Thanks!
 
Doesn't sound like it's the converter to me.
If it were it would do it all the time.
 
Maybe bent flex plate? Or worn bushing at the pump? Ever look and see if the converter is wobeling any??
 
Could be a plug fouling during warm-up. Get your Temp gun and check each cylinder and see if you have a cold one.
 
I had an ATI converter vibrate. Of course they made me jump through hoops before they would replace it. So yes, it can be the problem. If you can come up with a bellhousing, and a flywheel, you can prove, or disprove whether it's the converter, or the flexplate.

I replaced the flex plate during the recent rebuild, shaky happened before and after. Bushing should be good but I haven't watched the converter while it was occurring. I'll do that-thanks

The temps are usually pretty close, but maybe as soon as it will idle on it's own(no choke) I'll read the temps.
 
I had a 66 Rambler American with a 6 that always had this rhythmic vibration at speeds above 40-45. Had to do a motor swap and went with a remaned and inspected everything real good and still had it after that. I just lived with it! When I moved to Castle from Barksdale, The tranny took a dump in Tulare Ca. and I left it with Tulare trans. to work their magic. I had to take the bus to Castle and back when I had some time to recover the car. Man that thing ran so smooth afterwards, no Vibes, or rhythmic hums, nothing! I don't know what all they did or replaced but I was extremely happy to not have to deal with that anymore! I don't know for sure, but with that experience, I'd say it's possible? Good Luck
Edited- Even with a U-joint swap being the first fix before the motor didn't help either.
 
too much oil in the motor will cause a shake..just saying...seen it.

Really! Wow okay. That's not an issue for me, but thanks that's good stuff for the memory banks...
 
I had a converter causing a vibration once. Only at idle. It didn’t want to stall. Kinda like a manual coming to a stop without pushing the clutch. But not at speeds over idle.
