Hey all. Noticed my break lights were all lit up yesterday with out any pressure on the pedal. The switch connected to the pedal seems to keep getting stuck as if I was putting pressure on it.

I lubed it up and it seems to have fixed the problem until I noticed today it was doing the same thing.

Any ideas how to fix this or where to buy a new part?

When the lights get too bright, I like to take a break too. I'll sit in the dark to let my eyes have a rest.

thanks for the pic.
i had a different problem, switch out of adjustment.
not easy contorting my body to get at the 7/16 headed bolt

Rebel,
My '68 Coronet's brake lights stayed on one day a few years ago. I made a slight adjustment to the brake switch and it resolved the issue.
I suggest you give that a try first.

Maybe a quick squirt of WD-40 or PB Blaster would help.

My car has buckets and center console. Ive just about given up trying to contort my body to get under the dash and I now take out the drivers front bucket seat and save myself a lot of pain.
Id agree with Kern but if the switch is adjusted properly and is in fact sticking, id replace it as I personally dont think it needs to be lubed to work correctly

Turns out that was the issue. Just enough play for the switch to slip out of alignment.

I worked on mine today. Turned out the plunger shaft was bent a little bit. I straightened it out and cleaned the contact area and now works well with the parking brake.

You probably didn't realize when you wrote this a couple years ago how helpful your casual mention of the head size of this bolt was. If you ever find yourself in Central Florida, message me. I'll buy you a beer.
