Hellcat on the autobahn

I live in Germany. And I can tell you, it is almost impossible to drive that fast. There might be some sections of the Autobahn with less traffic.
You never can plan a trip here in Germany scheduled on time. Almost everytime you get stucked in traffic jam. And it gets worse every year.
30 years ago you knew, I need 5 hours for 300 miles on the Autobahn. Today you´re lucky if you make that in 8 hours. There are so many
road constructions that take years to be completed. They really need years for a 10 mile section.

I have seen it in the US. You guys over there do that a a few weeks, if not even faster than that.
I often spend my vacations in the US (my favorite country anyway). And I love it to plan trips. I always know I can make a 300 mile trip in 5 hours

Here in Germany many people are dying because of traffic jam in these road constructions. German drivers a getting more and more reckless.
I guess this is the result of the dissatisfaction with our government.
We have so many truck drivers from Eastern European countries on the Autobahn, that are drunk or are falling asleep when driving.
It is no fun at all to be on the Autobahn.

Apparently, things have changed. My experiences were 1995-1998 and 2000-2003.

I would think the only safe way to run in the fast lane would be to somehow make sure all the fast cars were traveling at a consistent, fast, equal speed (say 100 mph). Otherwise, it seems to me to be sure suicide/mayhem.

The steering looked very easy in the video at high speed,,idk about anyone else, but my 18 chally r/t steering gets very stiff at 90-100 mph and is very scary.

That's exactly how it was set up originally, fast cars in the left lane, traffic in the right, and heaven help you if you pulled in front of somebody haulin *** in the fast lane, it would be YOUR fault, according to the law.
I have no idea if it is that way now. Comments on this thread from locals seem to say not.

I a clueless about todays laws regarding the 'Bahn. I was last there in 1986.

If you drive more than 130 Km/h (80 mph) on the German Autobahn and get involved in an accident, you are always partially guilty. It doesen´t matter who caused the accident. That´s the law.

looks like fun

wish we didn't have a bunch of heads up their collective asses,
Negative Nancy's ruining our govt. & our roads here
(sounds like Germany does now too)

there 'were' stretches of Nevada where you could run wide open
haven't done any of that for a time now

Dad used to cruise his '68 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham at 90 MPH on the Nevada highways back in the the late '60's with wife and three kids aboard. Still took hours to arrive in Elko from the California/Nevada state line.

There are very few places in the United States were you can drive that fast. I have no real use for that car and that's my personal preference.
Id venture to say virtually nobody on this forum has the skills or experience to drive that car that fast. Frankly if anyone wants to kill themselves, thats their right as long as they dont jeopardize anyone else, and that would include other drivers or law enforcement officers.
A State Trooper told me he called it quits at 120 MPH when chasing a speeding car. The problem is that the driver of a car driving as fast as that car in the video goes is putting the Troopers life in danger as well as other drivers.
I also know if someone caused a trooper to drive that fast, if he caught the offender, it didn't go well for that person
Most of us did stupid things behind the wheel and thankfully it wasn't our time and hopefully when we did those stupid things we did them with no passengers. Then it was time to grow up.

we certainly do have a certain populous
that are low performance drivers,
with high performance cars

to each their own

I just don't 'pigeon hole everyone', in that category
inner-shitty/masses, or the Negative Nancy dweebs
yep probably

Go get your testosterone checked....most troopers I know aren’t afraid of a mere 120. I recall cruising through the mountains in excess of that in my wife’s Hellcat. My slow street car traps 143 in the quarter mile. It doesn’t even seem fast anymore . My goal with it is to exceed 200mph in the standing mile and better than 170 in the quarter mile. Just because you don’t have any business behind the wheel of anything fast doesn’t mean everyone else isn’t qualified.

Lets praise law enforcement, post about the great things they do, how they risk their lives everyday to protect and serve.
Then lets post about driving some over rated car thats greatest claim is it can fast in a straight line and all it takes to get one is cash in your pocket and a car loan.
So now take your 170 plus car and drive it that fast and endanger everyone around you including that officer who chases you down.
The fact is were I live in the inner shitty were you had to be a man to survive and not some big mouth loser, you drove that fast and caused a cop top drive that fast, if you got caught, you ran a good chance of catching a beating.
I wasn't aware that not driving (as a grown adult) like a reckless idiot or driving at speeds over 100mph constitutes being a low performance driver.
Considering ive driven in every kind of weather condition possible including heavy motorized weaponry during my service to this country, again would make me a "low performance driver"

Your certainly not qualified other than to run your mouth. Go as fast as you enjoy and if that makes you feel like a man, well.
However the day you endanger anybody other than yourself is the day you should be prosecuted.

Hit a nerve me thinks....
The problem is and its not just the topic at hand. Many people want only to do what suites them in any given circumstance.
So driving on some road at 150 mph and then defending doing that while possibly putting others in danger is acceptable because its what someone wants to do and thinks its their God given right to do so.
These guys think there Indy drivers, meanwhile going sideways at 60, fighting to gain control of their vehicle they would be scared shitless.

A SUV tire came off a vehicle going south bound while I went north bound on I 95. The tire leaped over the divider and was going down the road very fast. I had a split second to react and that tire took a leap about four feet went over the hood of my car and it the pillar. The windshield exploded and the interior piece's flew off. I was in the center lane going about 55 and it was raining lightly. It felt like a eternity to get that car onto the shoulder and stoped and that was under 60 MPH....Think about over 100.

The OP created a thread, posted a video of a guy driving a cool car on the autobahn where it’s legal to do so. Everyone else adds their positive comments about how cool it is and how much fun it looks. It’s a car enthusiast forum after all. Then you join in by making a derogatory comment about a car you’ve never driven. Then you start posting how nobody else should drive that fast and how no members of this forum are even qualfied to do it.
You don’t know anything about anyone on this forum. Why would you make those assumptions and why do you feel you’re qualified to make decisions as to what “everyone else” should or shouldn’t do? Do you not understand that all people are different, like different things, are capable of different things, have different levels of skills and abilities and think differently and don’t all share the same opinion or viewpoints?
