I'm selling my old trunk lid (slightly dented) from my convertible Satellite and I suddenly got concerned about my replacement trunk lid that's at the painters.

Are the trunk lids on a convertible and a hardtop the same size?

If someone in FBBO land has a hard top 66 Satty, could you post the dimensions. I guess you could measure the width from side to side, then down the middle of the lid from the top edge to the bottom edge beneath the trunk lock.

I may be paranoid but I want to be sure they are the same size before I sell my original trunk lid. Thanks

Measurements as per attached photos, rear of lid first

Thanks for all the input. I compared the measurements, they appear to be the same. FBBO has great members who provide a lot of help and knowledge!

Just to completely answer your question are the deck lids the same? YES looked in my parts book only one number 2576191. Rest easy. The only body panels that are different are the quarters which isn't hard to guess. I go crazy when questions like that pop to my head. How is the fit of trunk lid to quarter driver's side corner nears rear window. Mine is horrible 1/2" gap at corner. Should have had that corrected when I had it painted 40 years ago.

Every now and then the stars align. The trunk lids are the same and I was able to sell my old trunk lid to a guy who's been search for one for a long time.

My trunk lid is rotted at bottom from water leaking through truck panel holes. Bought a lid to replace it 20 years ago. The fit of doors and trunk is piss poor as you'll see in pictures. The doors and trunk have never been off the car, check door gaps on bottom and top of passenger door. The trim holes I think are part of the problem. Are yours the same? My car is a St Louis as all convertibles are March 8th production date.

A B-Body is a B-Body same size.

Sheet metal is the same as already stated. The only difference may be the mounting holes for the trim depending on model, r/t, 500, 440. I’ve had to do some hole weld ups when swapping parts on my 67s.

I would repair the original if only small dents and dings since already going to a body shop. Nothing like OE fitment

Just my opinion but if you are keeping the car and the trunk lid turns out to be the same I would never sell anything, what if you had to go back and buy a new one it's a real pain in the ***

Rich deck lids are different. 67 is cupped in center 66's are almost flat.

I wouldn't know about that year however I ran into the issue with a 70 RR post car trunk lid I dented real good. Found a near mint 1970 replacement, had it painted only to find it was just touching the fender sides around both tail light housings when mounted. *Forehead smack at that point.* Don't know if the replacement was from a rag top or not but the lesson learned was prefit everything before paint. Took the original dented one to the paint shop and had it straightened and painted.
