So 3 weeks ago I had to put my girl KONGA down. Her hips were bad and kidneys failing, brock my heart. That left me with 1 dog,her brother King. It didnt take long for me to feel bad for King so I adopted Riely,2 year old rottie. She is a handful but King seems to be happy now.

my deepest heartfelt condolences goes out
to you, King  & your family,

they are our kids with fur

unfortunately I can relate
several times my own dogs

&
I went to look at a Jeep PU SJ POS, waste of time
but we came back this prior Tuesday night,
had to go/rushed back up to my cousin Stan's house,
some 11 miles upcountry
his 8-9 y/o Lab BoBo was coughing, choking it seemed like
we rushed her to the local vet
she was gone in about an hr,
she had just been to the vet for a check up a week or 2 prior
given a good bill of health, for the most part, a little overweight

ended up that she had a melon size mass in her chest cavity,
they didn't know about, until they took ex-rays Tues. afternoon/evening

(they should have maybe done prior, I'm not blaming them,
they did what was asked of them ... but seems logical,
if she was there for a cough & discomfort prior, it'd been done
)

anyway it was blocking off blood supply to her heart & lungs
she was put down, to end the suffering,
might have been able to extend her life for a month or so
it would have been induced coma, it was inoperable

it was traumatic & so quick
it was heartbreaking for Stan
I wept like a little boy

I feel so sorry for the loss

Yup, I can pile on to Budnicks post. I had a beautiful, semi feral rescue cat we called Lynx because she looked like one. Had her for about 6 years.
She begins vomiting stuff that looks like pea soup. She is otherwise fine.
I take her to the vet, expecting a course of antibiotics or some such. Her kidneys have failed. She is done.
I hold her as she is put down. I sobbed like a child. I’m tearing up writing this. I have them cremate her.
A few weeks later a small envelope arrives. It is a ink impression of one of her feet. She had six toes on each foot, as did the ink impression. I started sobbing as soon as I saw it.

I feel sorry for your loss, as some of you know i rescued puppies from the road, and the fact that you adopted one and give him a home, I can assure you that's what she want in the end, king is happy so Riely, my deepest sympathy.

Bunch sobbing old dudes... Trust me I feel the same, I’ve lost to many and even though I know I’m gonna go through the heartache again I’ll still adopt another...

You’re a good man and I’m sorry you lost Konga... Thanks for bringing King a new companion...

My condolences on your loss. To me they are family members. I had to put my Lab Ellie down a while ago, broke my heart. Took me 6 months and my wife convinced me to get a rescue dog from the pound. Henry is a wonderful addition to our family! 440'

So sorry to hear about your loss, I don't know if quicker is better. We knew about our Daschund's terminal diagnosis for 6 months, it was terrible.
My heart breaks for you.

thanks to all,my last rottie was 15 and in bad health. Finally my wife ask me how long was I gonna make her-Tazz- suffer. I had to go to robot mode to have her put down. Yep still miss her and tear up every now and then. They are family. Thanks again to all of you.

it is heartbreaking, I feel your pain as well. I still step on the gas to get home to mine after work. they never lose the excitement of seeing me when I come through the front door. I love them more than any human .

very sorry for your loss; we all dread the day, it's the worst........... good call on the noob, Rotties are great dogs; I miss mine every day

When we lose an animal that we have loved and loved us back, we lose a little of piece of ourselves. But the person that has never loved and been loved by an animal, be it a dog, cat, whatever, there is a piece of his or her soul, they have never found.

Ya. Its hard to see our little friends suffer . It kind of puts a person in a awkward not knowing what or how to deal with there situations .
