Purchased a 55K Charger in Ohio a couple of weeks ago and have a couple of questions for you pros. 1. My speedo is bouncing around and making a clicking sound. Cable appears to be ok and after some research it may be the clockspring in the speedo. Is that something I can fix and are they available? 2. Looking to switch to Wilwood discs on all 4 wheels and to choose the correct setup for the rear I need to know the offset distance from the flange to the axle. Has anybody done this and know what it might be.
Thanks in advance, Evan

For your speedo, most likely the internal bushing thingie is worn out causing your needle to bounce all over. Depending on where you live, you should be able to find a local speedo shop to fix that for you.

On the back of the speedo you will find a little brass plug near where the cable attaches. Pull the plug and drop a few shots of oil in there, that's what it's there for. Stuttering should stop after that... assuming the speedo cable itself is turning freely.

If the bearings are shot, I have plenty of good cores for 66/67 Charger speedometers. Just let me know...

Thanks,

Mark

Is there an oil that works best? Or just any household oil?

Light weight machine oil works well, like the old sewing machine oil, or even 3-IN-ONE.

3 upgrades and 1 fix for the 66....Added Wilwood disc brakes up front with one of their tandem master cylinders. Also added a set of HD Mopar leaf springs and an Edelbrock AVS2 carb. The fix was the speedo chirping and bouncing that 67 Mopar helped me fix, thank you sir.
