I had a little mystery that’s half solved at this point. On the 67 I just got, the parking brake light on the dash will start flashing after about 10 seconds. I thought, that’s cool, does my other 67 do that? Well, it doesn’t. The flashing is not aided by a flasher, can’t hear anything clicking. After a quick search through FSM I see the bulb is a 257. Search on the web shows there are flasher bulbs. Never knew there were bulbs with built in flasher! Nothing in the FSM about the bulb being a flasher.

Question is, did someone put a flasher bulb in the car at some point or did these cars come with a flasher bulb? Does your 67 R/T park brake lamp flash?

1967 B-bodies come with that flashing bulb. Pretty neat feature. Got many from the salvage yards over the years.

That blue on blue coronet is cool, thanks for the video.

1967 was the first year the parking brake lamp was standard on all levels/models of the cars. Stripped down Belvedere I cars had them.

Thx! Looks like I gotta find a bulb for my other R/T now.

When your light comes on, stick your toe under the emergency brake pedal and push up on it a bit. If there is a little bit of play in the cables or in the spring in the pedal assembly, the pedal will trigger the light.

It's a bimetalic strip in there. I see you can get them online. They are also a toy train light. Seems the new ones don't have the strip visible like the old ones. You'll also notice the blinking is very random.

Yep, ordered an extra bulb. 257 is the part.

I think when I put my other R/T together the parts store or Rock Auto catalog called for a 57.

Wow! After all these years in the Mopar game I never knew of this type of self flashing bulbs. Were there any other Mopars that had these from the factory?
