How fat is my Fury?

There is quite a variance year to year. Maybe for structure improvements to keep the feds happy? My car is a 500 so its has a lot of trim pieces on it making contributions.

Not so much year to year as options. A/C, PS, power brake, console, full stock dual exhaust, full wheel covers, spare and jack, BB torsion bar, HD leaf spring, body trim, battery size. Now a hot rod may have headers, aluminum intake, aluminum wheels, etc.. Plus not all scales are accurate. I've weighed a lot of them at various tracks. Never seen one over 3800 w/o driver. The 64 Polara 500 is the heaviest of all the 62-65 B bodys. Not that hard to get one to 3100 in track trim.

My 63 Sport Fury is right about 3725 lbs without me and 3/4 a tank of gas. It was about 3575 until I added the rollbar and frame connectors. Its all stock with just a glass hood but the scoop is pretty heavy so its not a real light hood. It is the Sport Fury which is the heaviest model usually since it has the most chrome and options. I still even have the heater box in it as I have not stripped it at all. Course that's why most racers liked the Savoy's as they were usually the lightest. Ron

My 440 69 Fury III weights in at 4200 with a full tank without me in it. Got it weighted at a waste transfer facility. They said it is certified regularly but who knows.

64 polara b block with 727 3550lbs.
I've been trying to find out what a 64' Polara weighs as mine is in the process of being built. Is yours full interior ,roll bar, aluminum heads, intake water pump, glass bumpers, hood, what rims, big block ,727,heat core still in?,inquiring minds want to know. Thanks

Weighed a customer's 1964 Polara back a few years -- steel car, bucket seats, manual steering, iron headed crossram 500 stroker, 727, and 8 3/4 with 8 gallons of fuel - 3621lbs

What's your guys guess on what my 64' Polara weighs ,'cause i don't know. It's a all steel car with 6 point mild steel roll bar, aluminum rims, aluminum radiator, heads, water pump, no heater box, undercoating removed,493,727,Dana 60 and RMS alterkation said to shave off about 120 lbs. from the front. I'm thinking 3425 ish? sound about right?.

The entire stock front suspension doesnt weigh much over 120lbs without brakes. K frame and control arms are around 80lbs. Now manual rack and pinion vs factory power steering is a good amount of weight. But the rest isnt much.
Doug

120 lbs is the number i heard but ya,it does sound sound like a lot . I looked up to see if anyone has posted a actual weighed number and what i found for whatever it's worth was a guy who changed out his I/6 car from stock 10" drums ,I/6 k member, manual steering box, manual brakes to Alterkation with 12.19 Wilwood brakes, power rack and said to have dropped 94 lbs. This was found on fabo forum. If i went even more conservative and said 80 pond lost what would a good guess of my cars weight be?.

The best way, is to have it weighed. (Sorry about that, i willtry to be helpful).@Dan64
The best i can do is compare yours to mine.
I've got a 62 savoy. As i understand, a 64 polara will start out about 150lbs heavier than mine. Taking your list in order, i have an eight point bar,15x3 and 15x8 1/2 centerlines, copper 26"rad(+) 906 heads(+) alum.water pump and housing,no heater or wiper system,(?) whatever factory undercoat(not much) 440 with aluminum intake, single holley,727, 8 3/4(-) stock /6 front end , manual drum brakes, aluminum manual steering box. Fiberglass style buckets, carpet and doorpanels, battery in the trunk and a 8 gallon fuel cell.
You can compare yours to mine, plus a little here, minus a little there. I think your equipment might be 50-75 lighter than mine, so if yours started out 150 more you might be within 75 of mine. Mine was 3250 without me, last time i weighed it. My local dump will give me a certified weight for five bucks.

Thanks for that info ,if i'm near 3250 or so that's good news for me as i thought it may be heavier. Since it's a full interior ,steel body street car and not a full on race build, i doubt it will be shedding any more weight so it is what it is. It's nice to be able to tell whoever is going to build my converter e.c.t. what the cars weights with some level of accurate info.

Accurate info is easy. Have it weighed. Cost me five bucks at my local dump. Worth every penny.

My 64 Belvedere racecar is 3120 lbs w/o fuel or driver, 3350lbs race ready. That's after 1/8" Lexan windows, no regulators, doors gutted, no back seat, light front seats (Magnesium frames, aluminum mounts, 18lbseach), tube steering column shaft, carbon fiber bumper mounts, glass hood, aluminum 5 gal fuel cell and mounts, aluminum drive shaft, light brakes w/aluminum hubs and calipers, aluminum radiator, aluminum hood pins, aluminum heads, aluminum intake, aluminum water pump, aluminum motor plate, aluminum wheels, aluminum shocks, K-frame cut, tube strut rods. Stock gauge cluster, wiper assy, all heater box assy, carpet padding, hood hinges and latches, leaf springs, exhaust system, spare /jack are all removed. It does have a full cage +aprox 100lbs, mega block +50lbs, 2nd battery +45lbs, . Dana with spool is about equal to a 8 3/4 sure grip. Most of the gutted stuff doesn't show. But it shows you what it takes to get it light.

If i had Doug's heavy stuff in mine, dana, full cage, dual quad mega block, 2nd battery, mine would be 3450, 3650 plus with me in it at the line. He took 300 lbs.out of his. And it's still drop-dead gorgeous .

Been trying to find the weight of my 64 Sport Fury. Some sites say 3400-3500. That seems too light to me. Has anyone actually weighed their cars ? any real numbers? Race cars are no help. Thanks.
Did you ever get it weighed? You probably don't have any grain elevators around but many truck stops have scales.

I will soon as it can . The car was bought as a roller (so no previous experience with this car or model) and is currently in a million pieces . I've finally settled in on a build style for this project and was questioning some of the weights that i found online. I've seen 3300-3800 quoted for a stock 64" Polara . Both ends of that scale seemed excessive . It's not a race car so i'll stay true to the style and the weight is what it is.Thanks for all the info.

Doug,i just hope my car turns out half as nice as yours. It's rare to see a race car done to such a high level .

Not yet. I have 3 classic cars, and life to deal with. I also don't like thinking about taking my car around dump trucks, and all the road debris that falls out. I'm hoping to find anyone local with scales.
