I'm changing my headlight switch on my 77 Cordoba. The part number on my original one is #3747218. In looking for a new switch I notice the replacements have 2 extra spade terminals that my original doesn't. My socket has the plug-ins for these 2 extra spades.

Do I use the replacement switch with the 2 extra spades? or do I cut them off? Any brand preference? New one pictured below is Standard Motor but RockAuto also has WVE/AIRTEX/WELLS available.

Likely you can use the new switch as is. I don't think you need to remove the extra connections.

Agreed. Your original switch should be marked near the terms as far as what they go to. The new switch controls an additional something that you don’t have is all.
