Driveshaft pinion angle help needed

It’s an automatic. I stated it squats, simply based on all cars squat under harder acceleration to some degree. If a small block is cruising at 65 and you have to accelerate hard enough to maintain that speed climbing long/gradual steep mountain inclines. It’s squatting to maintain that speed. It may not be noticeable. But, it is.
MOPARS with leaf springs do not squat when accelerating,they raise up as it pushes the tires to the ground.
GM cars squat at the hit,maybe it's different when hitting the throttle at 50 or 60 MPH...................
 
i got mine at the local auto parts store, you can get them online also. they come in different thicknesses.
Napa, etc sells them too ? I understand, I need to measure first to find out which ones I need.

they had 2 sizes i bought both, got lucky on the first try, as far as measuring, idk maybe someone else here can shed some light, a rule of thumb for distances possibly?

It’s best to measure. So you buy the right thickness wedges. You got lucky because you probably weren’t more than a couple degrees out. I haven’t measured yet. But, based on looking at mine. I think I’m not far out either. Just guessing, 2-4 degrees will probably get me there. If the front tail shaft is 3 degrees pointing up for example. You have to match that by pointing 3 degrees down in the rear. If I understand it correctly ? Or it has to be parallel to one another within 1-4 degrees. That’s the way I understand it.

I just now used that TREMEC app. I wont know my front and rear angles until I remove driveshaft and put the car in the air. But, I was able to measure driveshaft angle. It’s 3.4 degrees. What can someone tell me based on that, what’s original factory ?
 
When I install these wedges. Can I slip them under the spring as I’m pointing too or does it half to be on top of springs ? If my rear pinion needs to go down, wouldn’t I have to put the wide end of the wedge at the back end of car ? I see these leaf springs don’t have a bolt in the center to tie them all together as far as most wedges are made for that. These springs seem to have a rivet of some sort ?

Yes that is where it goes. Pinion down= the wedge goes to the rear of the car.The center bolt has a round head on it so you may think it looks like a rivet. Once you loosen the U-bolts you will see what we mean.6 degrees is as big as you can go with a factory center bolt,the center bolt has to catch the shock plate. Most only need 2 to 4 degrees anyway.

NOOOOO ! I screwed up!!! I looked to fast. The wedge goes between the welded perch on the housing and the top of the leaf spring as the center bolt head is on top and fits into the perch. Damn Dyslexia.......
 
Here’s a good video of a Mopar standing up. What makes a Mopar stand up, compared to other cars that squat when accelerating ? Looks a lot like my car, B7 blue. But, it’s not mine.

That was the problem, put 2 degree shims in this evening. Hammered down from all speeds, climbed some steep hills. It used to hum pretty good at slower hammer downs at times. It’s completely gone up to 70 now. At that speed, I wouldn’t even call it a vibration. If I put my hand on tunnel, between seats. There’s a mild tickle in the driveline left. Probably, could use 1 more degree down at rear pinion or shaft balanced and it will be perfect. Up until now, I was always afraid to do 70 on 70 mph roads and I kept off of them for the most part and I did 60 to 65 when I would go on them. Because it would hum pretty good at times at 65 on occasions. Like a new car now.

It stands up because the leaf spring is trying to turn into an S and the pinion is rotating up. Add in that it might have a pinion snubber, that will pick the car up.
