My quest for another championship has now ended.
Entering Saturday's race I was 20 points out in second place while only running in half of the races this year.
I made my first timeshot and felt like the pass was a little sluggish. Air wasn't great but ran a 9.88 at only 134. No indication of any problems though.
Went up for my second timeshot, did my burnout and the car stalled. I started it back up and heard a knocking so I shut it right down. I had it towed back to the pits and loaded it up.
Got home, pulled the motor and found this.

YUK!!!!!!

Sorry to see this Bob. Looks like things coulda been way worse, but I’m sure that’s little consolation. Good news is you have all winter to get ‘er fixed up.

WTH. How much timing? Aluminum mains don’t typically fail, So I’d wonder if something failed that allowed the timing to advance.. There has to be a reason for it to split the mains...

Tuff way to end your season. Anything broke on the top side?

Sorry to hear that Bob. Sux for sure sounds like you had a good set up to be in the running.
Welcome back to the Jackstand Racing League!

Ouch! Found anything yet that might could be the cause?

I'd be talking to your engine builder too

if nothing else :poke:, so he can see it

so sorry especially to see & hear that

freaken' sucks

My heart sank when I saw the thread title Bob. So sorry for you that the season is over. Hopefully you'll find the reason and the repairs won't break the bank.
There's always next season.

I've never seen main caps fail like that! Very odd that it appears they all fractured the same way. 440'

Mercy, what carnage. What's that from, starvation?
Also really curious to know what happened.
I'm sorry this occurred to you, Bob. :-(

Are any of the main bulkheads cracked? I've had them crack pulling the front 2 bulkheads completely out of the block. The aluminum caps and bearings still looked new. Whose caps are those? I wonder if when it cracked the caps the mains were loose enough to starve the rods? Other rod bearings will tell the tail.
