Looking to install a console in my 73 Charger. Has anyone installed one, aftermarket or other from a donor? Any pics would be great

I fabricated one for my 65 Coronet. Used 1/2" MDF board and the wife sewed up a cover for it.

The best case scenario would be one from a donor car where they cut the hump out and left the brackets welded on.

Installed a console from a Lincoln in my '63 Fury earlier this year. I had some decent gauge sheet metal to fabricate the brackets, rivet, drill, bolt, wire up, etc. The hump isn't dead center in the car so had to accept a slight offset but I read in a recent post just a few days ago this is common.

If you would like more photos I can send along. It was more work than I thought; but this leather console I got at a swap meet for 10 bucks some years ago has a light bar so I rewired for brake and turn signals, headlights. A buddy fabbed out the aluminum (scrap from his shop) for extra gauges and cup holders. Also had to make up a block underneath the box to level it out a bit and some drilling out for the wiring harness. Painted the leather (Herb's paint) that was dark maroon to mate with the interior red and worked out pretty well for a better match. Again a great thanks to those on our forum who had some great advice to help me complete this!

In my '72 SSP I used a factory console but replaced the faux wood grain overlay with a real slice of alder wood.

From scratch or replacing existing? I have pics of mine before interior went in on my 73.

Going from scratch, have removed the Slap Stick and installed B&M Star Shifter. Only thing in the way is the B&M shifter. Really want to put the Tach, gauges, and Heat / A/C controls in it as well.
Thanks,
Mango

Thanks guys for the pics and feedback on what you have done. I really appreciate all of you taking the time to post the pics giving me some ideas on what to do.

Thanks again!

This console fits very well in the 71-74 B-bodies.

Looks like the Cordoba! I had a '75 and an '80...got to like the '80 body style more as the years have gone by...

IMO use an original Slap Stik set-up and ditch the B&M Shifter. Your rallye cluster (if equipped) has the necessary gauges you need. IMO aftermarket gauges hanging down under the dash frame looks tacky.

Good luck on what ever direction you choose.
