Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting a centerforce DF clutch and was wondering if it is necessary to remove the center spring? I have read it is but why? Can I keep it in?

Thanks!
-Mark

Since it’s a diaphragm style clutch, the over center spring must be removed.

When you take it out, have a bunch of washers that you can put in between the winding springs, makes it sooo much easier to then take off, otherwise, that thing can become a missile!

I run a centerforce df. Yes remove return spring. You'll really like it once you get used to the feel. Good luck.

When I first replaced my b&b clutch with the DF, I didn't remove the spring.
I left it in due to an injury, thinking it may help make it easier.
Drove it like that for 10 years, never had an issue.

Recently replaced it with the same DF clutch, went to an 18 spline, had to remove the spring as it would keep the pedal down.

Old clutch/pp/flywheel in great shape.
No idea why it worked with the spring.

What was used for the throwout bearing? Did everyone use a stock mopar one?

Centerforce, but considering a hydraulic.

Went with Hays bearing, Center force pretty expensive.

That's the one I was looking at, I just didn't know if it would work with the centerforce clutch.

The CF kit comes with a throwout bearing, pressure plate and disc all in the box.

Bought my clutch from Summit, states it doesn't come with the alignment tool but it does, bearing was separate.
Clutch and bearing from summit was still the most inexpensive, even before their $50 off $500 sale.
