Ginger Baker wont be down

The Cream always rises to the top!

R.I.P.

Tales Of Brave Ulysses
You thought the leaden winter
Would bring you down forever
But you rode upon a steamer
To the violence of the sun
And the colors of the sea
Blind your eyes with trembling mermaids
And you touch the distant beaches
With tales of brave Ulysses
How his naked ears were tortured
By the sirens sweetly singing
For the sparkling waves are calling you
To touch their white laced lips
And you see a girl?s brown body
Dancing through the turquoise
And her footprints make you follow
Where the sky loves the sea
And when your fingers find her
She drowns you in her body
Carving deep blue ripples
In the tissues of your mind
The tiny purple fishes
Run laughing through your fingers
And you want to take her with you
To the hard land of the winter
Her name is Aphrodite
And she rides a crimson shell
You know you cannot leave her
For you touched the distant sands
With tales of brave Ulysses
How his naked ears were tortured
By the sirens sweetly singing
Yeah
The tiny purple fishes
Run laughing through your fingers
You want to take her with you
To the hard land of the winter

As a drummer myself, That guy could really play! Go listen to the song, "Toad" by Cream. RIP Mr. Baker.

Another drummer. Sweet.

And yet another drummer right here. I had the pleasure of seeing those guys several times where they played the Old Fillmore in S.F. .....on a side note, I auditioned for an English band called "The Liverpool Five" and one of the songs we played was "I'm so glad".......I did get the gig, but after a year of recording and touring uncertainties that band dissolved.

Cream was an awesome band, still love their music...

RIP Ginger Baker

You got to do "I'm so glad." That right there is a great memory.

Yea, the "Liverpool Five" were being re-branded as "Climax", a power trio as in Cream and Hendrix, so it was 8 Marshall stacks and my double bass drum set, the two guitar players handling the vocals, we had all original material.
Ginger was a hell of a good drummer, so thin he had to stand twice to make a shadow, he always seemed very wired up as in "speed"......He was referred to as "a skeleton covered with skin"...lol...
No disrespect here, he will be missed. RIP you crazy MF.

Ginger on vocals, and drums!

I liked the album version better....and it's one of my favorites. Maybe it's what I grew up with?
