Aluminum engine parts.... painted or bare?

I painted mine for that stock-ish look. I wanted that OEM appearance even though a race/street car. Sorry concours guys, not date coded/numbers matching.

Dang, I must be getting old, old timers is setting in... Maybe it was a gas tank.

i like all of them to express yourself with the metal art is just good stuff.

Thanks to everyone that replied. Sometimes, it’s hard to make up your mind about something until you see it. But when I seen the pic of “69 GTX” engine, I knew that’s what I wanted.

Left mine bare. It goes nice with the bugs on the radiator and sleazy headers.

In the past I have been painting the aluminum with engine clear. After a few years the clear starts to "tint" yellow. I'm gonna paint the aluminum silver this time around. Thanks for the tip Darter6!

Hey Darter 6 I've been unable to locate the Rustoleum Ceramic Silver paint.

I like the polished bling:thumbsup: The stock appearing cars look good with the OEM look, day 2 cars look good with the mix,I like polished stuff.

theman440, My brain don't work as good as it used to. I will look at the shop today to see what company it was.:( My mind may have red lighted with the brand.

Powder coated intake and valve covers on mine. I'll tell you what though, my timing cover is bare billet aluminium and a real pain in the *** the keep from oxidizing. I wish I would have cleared it!!!

WD40 on the bare parts will go along ways to keeping them nice. Washes off easily as well.

theman440, I was half wrong, It is Rust-oleum brand #248953 Cast Coat Aluminum Engine Enamel. I did screw up about it being ceramic. It is gas and oil resistant as I had a pretty good gas leak at the carb fitting that leaked puddles on the intake and didn't harm the paint.
