Road Trip Gulf Coast to NorCal

At least the wifey is there to comfort you:lol:
I needed a light hearted laugh. Wait for it, I may have run it out of fuel. Unconfirmed. Hope to get car in an hour and head for Natchez for the night. He replaced the Aeromotive 11540 340 l/hr pump with an available AC Delco EP 381 that’s good enough sans drag racing. Just **** me!

No call yet, but plenty of time to kill and rant. On the subject of fellow travelers, not sure if it’s the local climate or worldwide. What a ******* around at the front desk. Do your business, get your key, find out where the ice is and gtfo. Elevators too, see if anyone is exiting first. Linda getting antsy. Shop is closed tomorrow, here til Monday if not resolved today.

I have heard that the South takes things a bit S L O W E R than the rest of the country. If/When I move, that will take some adjusting for me!

You do have a place to stay tonight? I have extra room if you're going to be on the street.

Very true that the clocks run slower here.

As for the no Gun Pic in the window. Ms is an open carry state. It scares certain people to see someone other than a cop walking around with a gun on their hip.

Aw this sucks. I hope it's something relatively easy and you're back up and running by the time you read this!

They have to drop the tank?

Looks like a bunch of fun. How does the event compare to Reno's Hot August Nights ??
it rarely rains in Reno (there's been a couple times in my 40+ years),
during Hot 'August' Nights
the times I've been there anyway
it is just over the mountain peaks, weather can be strange
far less humidity, than 'the south' has too

it's nothing like 'the south' gets rain/weather in the summer
common place occurrence, usually blows over relatively quick
in the summer months anyway, it's usually humid as **** too :poke:
edit added,
southern people are really friendly & they talk funny :D

Rolling! Replaced the Aeromotive pump with a dime store AC-Delco and it runs great.
82 mph when not raining so hard you can’t see, 15.8 mpg. Wait for it, the best news ever. Linda says she will never go on a road trip with me again. I wanted to do handstands in a meadow, but there are only swamps here. 84 west was a blast from Hattiesburg to Natchez.

That mileage....That seems to be an improvement over the Demon, right? The best I got was 12.8 at 55-60 with a 3.91 and the GV Overdrive. 440/493 with the Demon 850 carb.
So.....Did she beg to go on this trip or did you ask her to come along to keep you company? Car problems happen to all of us sooner or later....She didn't know that?

I have a insider's perspective on that comment and all I can think is
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
Glad you got it going!
NOTHING was really "broken" on our 2 cars, and we dropped 10k at the Coliseum today...
Killer deals though on a TKO 600 5 speed, Vintage Air complete system and CVF Wraptor serpentine system and Dakota Digital Rally gauge set for the GTO...
The Roadrunner got some love too:
Black Diamond Wraptor serpentine system, Vintage Air AC...
I am going to get the QA1 K-member and front suspension system I've had since last year installed, and go ahead and get the Wilwood 4 wheel 6 piston caliper disc brake system for the Roadrunner from Quick Performance, and get all of that installed before I spend any money on installing all of the other stuff.
I may tackle the Wraptor serpentine systems myself.
It will be great to be able to steer and stop!!:steering:
I'll check to make sure the Borgeson power steering unit is compatible with the Wraptor power steering pump.

You alone probably justified the vendors involvement in this event!

Awesome news!!! Sucks that such a new pump crapped the bed already. I'm running a Walbro 255lph in my tank. So far so good.

I beat on them pretty hard regarding price, and made both vendors cut their price a second time for me to commit.
I am confident that I got a deal, and tech support should be some of the best.

Glad you got he issues resolved.

Crap, maybe I was just lucky in 2015 with my drive across country. Next year I am going across and back. Now I'm worried......................... :praying:

Oh, I also got a Wilwood American Powertrain hydraulic clutch bearing system from the transmission vendor.
$100 off brought it to around $550
:bananadance:
Now I have to see if my 3,000 pound pressure plate and single disc street/strip disc is up to slipping without smoking them when I add the HitMaster launch control system to the new hydraulic throwout bearing.

82 mph.... 15.8 mpg
 I don't know how many mpg I get. I know it's not as good as the GTO, and they are both 3x2bbl cars. The GTO has the factory 4 speed and a 3.80 ring and pinion gearset in the Quick Performance Ford 9" rear axle assembly. The .60 5th gear in the TKO 600 5 speed we just bought for the GTO is going to be sweet on the highway.
I'm running a 4.10 in the Dana 60, but I have a .70 5th gear, but I'm still losing the mpg contest. My Innovate Motorsports dual wideband O2 system indicates 12.5 to 13.1 A/F ratio when I'm cruising on the center carb. I'm going to try going one number jet pair leaner in the center carb and see what happens.
I could have got the FiTech 3x2 EFI system for $2000 today at the Coliseum, but I've already maxed out my Holley carbs with all of the Promax parts, and the 600 horsepower limit of the FiTech worries me that it may hold back my future stroker motor.

Tomorrow looks like GREAT weather for the big finale of Cruisin the Coast.
Meanwhile, Dennis is on his way back to Cali, with his lovely wife supportively riding shotgun...enhancing the joy that the long ride back will bring...
:poke::lol:
My wife didn't even get out of her car Sunday at our very first CtC venue before "I had pissed her off" so badly she drove off...
It happened again on Tuesday :lol:
The rest of the time was fine...
Ahh...the things we do for love...:realcrazy:
