Hello Helpful Team, I am installing the Torsion bars. Right now I have new shocks put on that prevents the suspension from sagging the entire run. I assume that I need to cut the wire on the shocks to let the suspension go its full travel to install the torsion bars? Thanks in advance, B.

Thank you. So now riddle me this: How in the World does one get those rubber caps over the ends of the Torsion Bars?? B.

They can be softened up in hot water and lubed well to install.
Mike

Lots of lube, and hold your breath, try not to pass out. The aftermarket ones are a real pain to get on. "OR" I honestly leave the lower control arms disconnected.Install the boots on the bars, install the bars in the cross member then install the lower control arms. Slide the bars in place. Then work the boots to the grove.

What size tb’s are we installing? If they are 1.00 or bigger, you’ll want to raise the lca to ride height or close to it, then shove it in.

Find a heavy duty funnel at the auto parts store and cut it off so it slips over the end of the bar, barely. Then lube the heck out of it and slide the boot down and over, praying it does not split.

Thanks again guys. As usual, the ideas are helpful. I have the aftermarket deals, so I am getting ready for a real rassling match. :). Best to you all. B.

I stacked progressively larger diameter sockets through, with the largest one slightly smaller than the diameter of the hex points. With a little struggle (with only the largest socket in the boot) I got it on. I figured that I would try the next size, to cover the points and make it easier soaking the boot in hot water. Well the second boot split.
