Notice, there is no 80/90 even trying to run out.

Noisy rear end cover up. An old used car trick.

Yeh , I want to hear the run down on how they ck all fluids ect ect during a service. That shop has had some real winners come and go.
But I cant wait to hear the excuse if there is one.

It would seem that they spent a bunch of money doing it wrong, and it did'nt help a thing. Of course, I guess you're saying the customer footed the bill for the whole shooting match. I'll never forget being told my '83 Ford Econoline needed ball joints!! I'm like "show 'em to me and I'll let you change them"! He of course discovered it had king pins after I explained to him what king pins were, no ball joints. No wear either. /rolls eyes.

IMO it looks like contaminated /fried gear oil...

The housing and around the ring gear ect is chunky for sure. But we all know the aprox the depth of that cover , its chuck full of grease.

Nothings been done yet, just found this today. Were going to get with the guys that have been doing the service work on this for the past 4 yrs. The owner is not mechanical at all. We ran it up on the hoist just to check the rear lube since it did have a whine to it.
No leaks at the axels no leak at the pinion seal. I pulled the rubber plug on the cover plate the fill hole was plugged full.
At first Im thinking like mopar tim, its fried and plugged with crust kinda like a oil pan can be. I stick my finger in and the whole damn thing is full of grease.
Got to be careful. The other shop may only have just never pulled the plug, crappy if true but hard to prove they filled it with bearing grease.
Cheap route for the owner prob will be a used axel the correct ratio. Will know more Tuesday, I just had to share.
Only on a Monday .

We had on like that, packed as all hell on a Ram 1500.

I thought crap like this was over with several years ago. The sawdust trick used to be fairly common. Amazing that bearings lasted so long with just grease. I would like to listen in when you tell them about it. How could they possibly not know? In Panora? That's a small town.....................MO

I was amazed myself mo that the bearings and spyders hung in , Talked to the shop that's been doing the service work today.
Nobody knows nothing, { big surprise } Anyway the guy that owns it is having us get him a used rear axel through LKQ. He's paying the bill and just not going back to them , does not want to fight over it. Well that's all folks. Just thought I would share the WTF I had yesterday. LOL

Man, thought I did some crazy stuff with cars!! Thing is, I did it with my own junk and didn't doctor up something that was for sale. Lots of my junk was 'finished' when I got them and after doctoring, drove them for many more years THEN sent them to the wrecking yard or parted them myself and many were parted out. It's pretty crazy about some of the things you can do to get more life from something that's on it's last leg......

LKQ, the body shop supplier? I did not know they had a source for used parts. Do they have their own salvage or just the middle man - locator-delivery? .............................MO

LKQ is the BIGGEST auto recycler in the country. They did that way before the aftermarket thing. Very very corporate, doing that, owning Keystone and a few other things. They can make it hard for the smaller yards (fact). And would like to see all the little guys go to the wayside.
