I,m at the point of putting the ac/heater control panel back together again and don't know what order the cardboard pieces go into the slide assembly. Can anyone help please.

What the heck is that? I have a '70 Charger and I have never seen those!

Those go inside the white/yellow box with the five push buttons... They slide the vacuum switching block & the a/c clutch switch when you push the buttons....

The order isn't critical....

As long as the little tabs go into the two actual functioning parts so when the fiber plate slides it moves the switch blocks....

I never took mine apart that far. In 2015 I did some in-dash work and got the fan working again but decided to go with an aftermarket HVAC kit. Funny how I've had the car almost 20 years and never have seen those before!

Considering the switch isn't designed to be opened & they actually melt the little posts to keep it together very few have opened one... Also new complete switches are/were available... They use to be cheap, Last one I bought was $15... I'm betting thats no longer the case... Just checked $120....

Thanks 1Wild R/T for the info. Does the flat side go into switch assy. first? Only 1 of them has a small tab on the flat side, what is its function? Each piece (except one) ends with a thin protrusion and a wider protrusion at the other end. Should they be stacked on top of each other that way? It seems they will all move in unison when any of the slides are pushed. Thanks for your help.

To be honest it's been 40+ years since I took one apart so I'm not the best source of info but from what I recall the small tab goes into the slider block... I think there should be two & I know there are two slider blocks.. The sliders are in the back cover... They are really the important part of the switch... One slider directs vacuum to the various ports... And the other is an electrical switch that serves a couple functions, it turns the A/C clutch on/off & it cuts power to the blower motor... Speed is controlled be the speed switch but on/off is a function of the five button switch...

Performance Car Graphics restores all of my A/C switch units for me and they do a great job!!
