Road Trip Gulf Coast to NorCal

I'd get Rick or Aeromotive to warranty your first pump. I'd also get some $$ back from the guys that installed the second pump.

I bet Linda's saying, "Next time, Europe, Mister."

I use that line on a lot of people as well, you gotta use what works?
How's the fuel pump push rod? Good Luck
His pump is mounted in the tank...Electric for the EFI conversion.

It's nice to meet members travelling through. Although, Dennis was the first. I see your route takes you along I-40 through Oklahoma. Give me a shout when you're in my neck of the woods. Even if you just have time to say hello for a meal or for fuel. I'm flexible.

I did my big trip across country in 2015 - that was from East to West coast and was a more Northerly route. Next year, I will be traveling both ways, so Oklahoma may very well fit into the plans!!! :usflag:

Here is my trip from 2015 in case anyone cares to view it: http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/mopar...7639-Hawk-s-Cross-Country-70-Road-Runner-Trip

Leave in a Coronet, come home in an International.
That's sucks, sorry to hear you have had this happen twice to you. I know this sounds stupid, but, you don't deserve all of that! It's not from a lack of working at it!!

Fuel pump issue reminds of the problem with human organ transplants, a tendency to reject the "foreign" object. But I am a fan of any/all fuel injection efforts.

Got the car off the truck at the shop in San Jose, started right up. 53lbs of fuel pressure. WTF. Not easy fix problems not replicated.

That does not surprise me, it was hard to believe the new pump just failed completely after such a short run.

Sequence. Over 10,000 feet. Cruise down from Yosemite. Car running 176 and humming. Stop for fuel. Would not start, first time ever with EFI. Spins. Starts after setting for 10. In a block chokes, sputters, EFI tablet flashes red for fuel pressure dropping to 15 with 55 normal. Coast to a safe spot. No power. Zero. Cycled the cut out switch at battery and restored power. That ******* thing has to go. It spun but would not start. Is the power related to fuel. Everything else was running.

Home again, home again. I know you'll get it figured out and we'll all be interested to hear the prognosis....
I've been a lot of places but nothing beats your own bed!

Could the pump be overheating when you're running low on fuel, just a thought.

Maybe, but would only take 8 gallons. Need to know tank capacity once and for all and investigate gauge.

Is it a stock tank?

Is it a stock tank?
No, custom tank from Ricks. Guessing 22 gallons. Reads just above half then takes 9-11 gallons. Maybe it does work, then drops fast from 1/2 down. Not willing to find out on the road with the boss along.

Are you all baffled up in the tank? Sounds like an issue I had with cavitation and my atomic efi...

What a pain in the dick. It sucks to break down alone or with a buddy BUT to do it with the Wife along....having to hear her complain or hold back the comments THEN unleashing them once you get home...
WTF ???
How do you prepare for this sort of thing? I know that you don't buy Harbor Freight quality stuff. You posted many of the receipts.

She said we need a ******* roof, and car repairs should not compromise. Lost her mind. Ricks tanks El Paso has been helpful. Gonna give them another call.

Need a roof? What...She was tired and needed a Hotel room to sleep?
Car repairs/compromise: It didn't look like you took any shortcuts.

Could be many things but where is the power for the fuel pump connected? I had similar symptoms when I bad my in tank pump one time and it was a coil that got too hot. Sitting 10 min it would start then a few minutes later under load it would sputter. Need spark to ignite the fuel. When it fired up at the shop did you drive it home successfully without issue?
