Tesla claims another victim

About $3.

I don't think a rock would be very effective when you're stuck inside your car and it's on fire, sinking under water, or pinned under an 18 wheeler. There's a video out of a news reporter trying to break a window with a hammer failing miserably. The automatic center punch takes virtually no effort to use.

Has anybody ever actually tried one of those center punch things to see if they really work? I don't think most people realize just how hard it is to bust out modern car windows.

They do work, but there can be a problem.....

The only problem with the center punch, is that a lot of new vehicles have laminated door glasses that only crack like a windshield.

once it's cracked it's a lot easier to push out.

They work - we use them for extrication on the fire department. Way faster and better than an axe or similar brute force type tool.

My X wife's X best friend (yup lol) got locked inside of her Caddy SUV a couple of years back when the electrics got messed up. I thought you could still open a door with the door handle and get out when the door was locked? My 2000 Durango was that way iirc. A friend with a newer Mustang was locked out when the battery died and the lock mechanism failed. That dang thing only has a key entry lock on the driver's side only! What's up with the aingineeers designing this crap like this??

That Tesla group might have to back to the drawing board and rethink the roof. A manual roof slider in case of a emergency .

Wasnt it the Isetta that had the front swing door. But the had to have a slider up to in case of a collision? Like Citroen as well.

But you’d be dead in the Isetta no matter what happened. It’s German too.

Yup. But at least if your kicking a bit . You have a exit. I believe most micros had that feature.

I realize the Tesla isnt one of those. But a manual exit wouldnt be a bad idea . Or a ejection seat.

Some were German...BMW made them. But first they were the Italian Iso Isetta:

They were also made in Spain as the Iso Espana Pritsche,

The German BMW version was the most popular-

But BMW also built them in England with three wheels:

France also got in on the action with their version called the Valem Isetta:

Continents away, Brazil was busy making a version as well, the Romi-Isetta.

With a 'me too' attitude, Argentina joined in.

Coming back to the electric car theme, there is of course, the 2018 Microlino from Switzerland.

The new version seems to have the same quantity of doors as the original. https://microlino-car.com/en/microlino

Yeah, my kids chev truck will not let you out manually if it decides to lock. I hate the f@cking thing. It has a million or so f@cking buttons on the dash and door panels, none of which actually SAY door lock, but use these tiny little pictures that these old eyes can’t see and this old brain can’t decipher. I’ve literally hammered the window with my elbow in frustration after fruitlessly attempting to find the right button to press just so I can get out of the vehicle.

That’s a good idea to have a center punch in your console. Where do you buy such a thing?

Where did you buy that punch? I think you have a good safety idea....

Taxpayers give $$$ to Tesla so they can build cars in China.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tesla-aims-deliver-made-china-005346890.html
I couldn't find in that article where it said that Tesla used tax dollars to build that factory. Perhaps they had Chinese concessions? They did get their loans from Chinese banks for the project. It makes sense to build there though, China buys over half of the electric vehicles being built, and they have a 25% duty on imports. The sedan is built for Chinese customers only. Just like GM and Ford have Chinese factories, why not Tesla? It's not much different than having a Toyota factory over here.

He’s low on cash. So are the taxpayers tired of subsidizing Tesla.
https://news.yahoo.com/elon-musk-said-court-hes-165600955.html
What subsidizing are you talking about? I mean specifically, can you point to a source for this claim? Are you referring to a tax incentive to build factories, such as what New York, California or Nevada offered to have Gigafactory battery factories built? I'm pretty sure that the thousands of people getting new jobs aren't complaining, or tired of it. And the states seem to be satisfied with the results of their offerings. Really, is it much different than the $400 Million tax incentive that Chrysler Fiat got for modernizing plants in Detroit? https://www.autonews.com/manufacturing/fiat-chryslers-tax-incentives-may-top-400m-detroit-plants

If it's the Federal EV tax credit that you mean, that is actually now working against Tesla. Since they've sold more cars than the 200,000 limit for that credit, those numbers are winding down, and will hit zero by the end of this year. Meanwhile, other companies (Nissan, Ford etc.) who have sold fewer electric vehicles still qualify for the full credit of up to $7,500 to compete with Tesla.

In the space end of things, Nasa is quite happy with Tesla, their rocket launches are costing the government a small fraction of the price of the alternatives and SpaceX prices continue to drop.

So if I'm missing something, by all means let me know. The car built with the most American content in it is Tesla, and I wonder why people find it hard to be proud of the achievement.
