Your saying this factory Hurst can be tightened and shortened up? Seems like a stretch that a 2' throw could be shortenedYep, factory-style Hurst should do just fine. Yours might just need rebuilt. Brewer's Performance or Passon Performance are the 4-speed specialists.

Yep. My early 68 came with an inland reverse lockout deal. Changed to a Hurst comp plus. HappyWhy not use a HURST shifter as Mopar originally installed using the linkage, brackets, pieces and parts and boots as well as the tunnel hump. Just stay away from the origional Roadrunner INLAND shifter mechanism ....a real POS...very vague and sloppy in operation....almost impossible to speed shift....just my opinion of course.

Hurst verti gate if you wanna get crazy with it. Does not look stock if you care about that sort of thing. Is there a smooth, tight, short throw shifter for A833 4 speed in a 69 RR, available?
(Non console)
What is a Hurst inland?Yep. My early 68 came with an inland reverse lockout deal. Changed to a Hurst comp plus. Happy
The factory shifter? Can be brought down to less than 6 inches with an 12" handle and the right shift arms.
Brewers performanceThe factory shifter?
Where do I get the handle and arms?
I've always thought it would be nice to shorten the shifter throw on these B-bodies also. Are you saying that a guy can run the stock shifter and different rods to do this? Can be brought down to less than 6 inches with an 12" handle and the right shift arms.
Years of use and abuse makes for a a lot of slop in the shifter and a good rebuild can help a lot but they are what they are and I know of no way to truly make the originals a short throw. Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong.I've always thought it would be nice to shorten the shifter throw on these B-bodies also. This bolts right up and fits A833 4 speed?I bought a pistol grip hurst, I think from a 70 non console, very short throw maybe 5” or less. Shorter than the other hurst shifters I have. Handle is not bolted but slides in and clips. I noticed the lower arms are longer than the other hurst, 1/2” or more no bushing type.
In my 64 bench 4 speed with that long shifter I had to palm the ball going into third to save my knuckles, a long throw and flex.
Inland shifters came with early 68 model b bodies as far as I know. My 68 RR came stock with an inland. About mid 68 or so they went to what came in the 69s. I don't think they were Hurst. I swapped out the inland for a Hurst because I feel it's a better unit and it says Hurst on it.What is a Hurst inland?
Just change the arms on the shift forks at the trans of the shifter is still ok. No reason to complicate the heck out of this.Years of use and abuse makes for a a lot of slop in the shifter and a good rebuild can help a lot but they are what they are and I know of no way to truly make the originals a short throw. Not following you. Are you talking about the levers?Just change the arms on the shift forks at the trans of the shifter is still ok. No reason to complicate the heck out of this.
