I have a 4 speed 70 gtx with console, the transmission has the long tail shaft for both mounting positions of the shifter (B-E) can some one please help me find a shifter.
Everywhere I look for a shifter it says its for a NEW PROCESS, MOPAR B-BODY (422) I check
the diagram and it says mine is a NEW PROCESS, MOPAR (423) https://www.shifterdoc.com/4_Speed_Transmission_Identification_ID_Chart.PDF
any help would be appreciated

Go to Ebay and put in 70 pistol grip shifter....you'll find both of them (console and non-console). Be ready for sticker shock.

I have an oem shifter but not for console, that's the problem and its the push in type

Is your OEM style mechanism for a pistol grip shifter? If so, there are OEM restored handles out there for console and non console applications but they are usually extremely expensive. You may be better off going for a new pistol grip bolt in style kit....especially if you think your mechanism is in need of a rebuild.

If you are going for concours restoration, then the bayonet style is OEM. If not, my personal opinion is to go aftermarket with the bolt in style....I think they're more robust anyway.

If your mechanism is a pistol grip unit, it does have some decent value. You could use it for some trade in value for a bolt in style at Brewers. I just went through it and had a ragged out push in style pistol grip mechanism that was worth $150 core toward a pistol grip bolt in style at Brewers. Believe me....I went through every scenario to keep my costs down and the trade in was the lowest cost option. That opened me up for purchase of the more readily available bolt in style handles. I lucked upon a non-console handle new in box for $180 whereas they are going on the market for $289. I've been trolling for months on the shifter upgrade to keep my costs down. Keep your rods and levers if you do the trade in and reuse them.
