Guy Flips out and crushes his 70 Charger when he could not sell it for $$$$

Just stumbled onto this thread. I passed this car everyday on the way home from work. It was for sale at a service station in Latham NY on a pretty busy road for probably a month and a half or so. I actually stopped to look at it one day just because you dont just see these cars for sale on the side of the road anymore. And one day it was gone. I figured some poor bastard took the bait. Believe me when I tell you, there was NOTHING left of this car. Maybe the center console and a few pieces of trim could have been salvaged. No floors, no frame rails, no nothing. The roof, fenders and doors....shot. NOTHING. Not really even a parts car worth hauling away for the few pieces left on it. And CERTAINLY not worth anywhere near the $8500 obo on the for sale sign for a low option 383 car. I was going to snap a few pics for the guys at work to chuckle about, but the guy who owns the service station is kind of a dick and I figured he'd give me ten pounds of **** over it. I just laughed to myself and drove home thinking about how much this MOPAR hobby sucks now because of asshole flippers that pull this ****. And as far as the owner that crushed it is concerned, total drama queen.

I bought a 69 Charger out of new York years back most never see or understand rust like that.... It was exactly as you described as far as the body. Mine even had holes rusted through the center of the 8 3/4 rear!! The rear frame rails were angle iron welded back up to the Dutchmen panel. It was a great parts car though as it had a perfect grille, Am/FM, Bucket seats console, wood wheel and all stainless was perfect... I paid $1500 and it let others live with nice parts that were not available like today.. Not all can nor should be saved and the one I had was just that... This guy who crushed this car was an idiot for crushing it BEFORE he removed the good parts and then again for filming it....

There are some that are too far gone, but most can be saved these days. That 70 the asshat crushed could have easily been saved. If you own a welder and can weld, most can be saved. I have seen some very rusty and rough Chargers reconstructed over on Dodge Charger.com. I am from New England, and have seen more than my fair share of rusty Chargers. Other than a few pristine survivor examples that I have seen throughout the years, almost every second generation Charger needs some metal work, it's part of the whole Charger experience.

That is at this stage now. Not to mention two rear quarters a full floor pan outer wheel houses. And was IMO very restorable.

It's not like the old days when there were no parts available to save these cars, they are readily available, and can be delivered to your door with a few clicks of a mouse. It comes down to how bad do you want a Charger, and are you willing to do the work necessary to save one. I wish I could go drop 50k to 100k for a beautifully restored Charger R / T, but I cannot, so I build them.

Tbe market has pretty much decided that there is almost no such thing as a second generation Charger parts car these days.

It sure has there was one in that video....

( It cracks me up that the dope crushing his own Charger)

That's because it's his and he can do as he chooses, his business only, has no affect on anyone else other than conversation !

Where was the video posted? Public, right?

If people can’t handle opinions then don’t post ignorant videos destroying a car.....

As you can see people do talk about it!

Back in the 80s I parted out a bunch of them. There were no parts to repair them with, these days any Charger that isn't rotted into the ground can be saved. Full frame rails, floors, cowls, roof skins and even structual inner support pieces are reproduced . The work can be labor intensive but it is doable. I sold a 68 Charger roller, that needed most of what that 70 did for 5 grand last year, and it is being restored. I sold the same person what was possibly the most rusted 68 slant 6 Satellite convertible project car that I had ever seen as well, and he just wrapped up the metal work on it,you would never know it was the same car! The man has the drive and determination to save these cars. I had a higher offer on the convertible, but when he said he was going to build it,and the other buyer wanted to part it out,I sold it to the guy who said he would save the car.

Even a trashed charger like this would be a great source of inspiration for some young guy on a budget..especially a good year charger like a 70 model..
Most people can not afford these cars and a lot of young people are currently dreaming of these chargers. Yes the car was trashed but this guy is a whiny narsassistic turd for crushing it, and filming it on top of that. He should have donated it to a the northeast dukes crew to jump, or a local auto shop. Or parted it out.

That’s the kind of guy that would commit a mass shooting. He obviously isn’t mentally stable.
