Gentlemen,
I just snagged a nice little 6k stewart warner tach (3-3/8") that I want to put on the column (auto, column shift) of my Satellite and I am curious to see what mounting options I have. Not real keen on the new manufacture, ebay strap and cup options I have seen. Looking for a clean, period correct look.

I am not opposed to drilling and tapping into the column sleeve behind the shifter to mount a bracket. But before I go buck wild trying to make this work, please share with me your column setups! Why re-invent the wheel?
Thanks,
Andrew

Only one I have at the moment.
I used a piece of shrink wrap on a hose clamp to mount it.

Sun Super Tach II mounted on a 4 speed column, using their hardware specifically
designed for a big-assed hose clamp (skip ahead to about 1:05):

Ditched the monster tach on top of the dash for a shift light. Data log picture of RPM @ WOT in the street,,,,,minor slippage:lol::rolleyes:

Mine is like vintage chromoly 's setup, but it came with a hole in the bracket. I screwed a very small self taper into the column in that hole for a clean install. It mounts on a rubber piece to isolate it from the metal column. Both of mine are 4 speed cars thought, so I don't have the shifter to deal with at all. I like the shrink wrap over the clamp too as I never cared for the clamp showing up on the column.

Shrink tube and big hose clamp here.

Definitely "period correct" that way!
