Hello. Just found your website. Looks like a great resource. In 1989 I bought a 1968 Charger for my wife for our 20th Anniversary. A few years later a series of unfortunate events resulted in the car being moved to the back of my shop and stayed there for 27 years. Now, for our 50th Anniversary we are going to put the car on the road again. It is a base model with the 383 (H code); 4sp; Air and front buddy seat option with 72,000 miles. Any comments you have about the desirability or potential value of this car will help me decide how extensive a restoration to give it. Thanks.

Those seat covers gotta GO! Is that a floor mat or rusty floor driver's?

If you ever run out of room just contact me! 68's Baby:thumbsup:

Its only original once, if it's not broken don't fix it, for the pics looks really good, wash it, wax it, and enjoy it, 68 is the best year of the charger IMO.

Second generation Chargers are super desirable, and a 4-speed is icing on the cake. If it was me, and pretty much everything is original, I would keep it that way, Inland shifter and all. Any mods you do, keep the parts you take off.

Yep,just as everyone is saying above, clean up exterior, perform compression/leakdown and repair or freshen motor if needed, rebuild carb, new fluids, all hydraulic braking components, new tires, check steering components, carpet and seat covers if needed(give those aftermarket covers back to the sheep though). Any other bolt on items that annoy you. Otherwise drive and have fun.

Hi Limo Man, :welcome:
If the rest of your Charger looks as good as those pictures, keep it as is and enjoy it!
Congrats to you and your wife on 50 years :)

Welcome and Nice Charger!
RR1 Burgundy Metallic paint? Same as my 68 RR.

Welcome to FABO! Get it mechanically sound and wash and wax it and drive the tires off of it nice looking car as is.

Change the oil, pull the valve covers and distributor. Then cut a blade screwdriver off, stick it in a drill and run the oil pump as a friend turns the motor over slowly with a ratchet on the crank bolt. When oil comes out of a rocker assembly, turn the crank and get oil out of the other.
Pull the fuel line to the carb and replace fuel pump. Clean the tube with muriatic acid and then carb cleaner. I use an outboard motor fuel tank to start a car that has been setting. The car's tank will most likely have crud that will stick a valve or plug a carb.
Check the coolant and see if it starts. If it starts, warm it thoroughly while watching for leaks or odd noises.

Unfortunately for you that car is pretty much worthless being just a base H code 4 speed car. Either keep it and drive it into the ground or yes, I’ve thought long and hard about this, in order to help out a fellow Mopar enthusiast I’d be willing to take it off your hand for $6000.00 in cash.

Yes, this is a selfless offer I know, Just let me know if need my help.

(This is where I’d insert a smirky smiley, or a devil smiley if I knew how!)

Just tune er up and drive that bad boy, and if you want to really restore it, don’t hesitate on spending lots on it. They command a lot of dough on the open market
