If you want people to look at your tires and wheels buy the most gaudy and loud tires/wheels you can find.

Back in the day I'd have them on the outside. Now inside. On slicks...def on outside.

Same here.
Use Soft Scrub with the Bleach.......nice and white

You are correct about the tires that have issues. So far mine have been staying nice and white, and hopefully for a while. Thanks
I like the old school look of white letters, especially with steel wheels. Rally or mag-type rims I could go either way...I keep mine clean with ajax and a scrub sponge, just part of the deal, gotta clean them every couple of weeks(the fronts more so; the rears don't get dirty as quick).

I like the white out. dislike white outline letters. Like yellow Goodyear letters on some cars. Had them (yellow) on my 65 Impala SS. Dark green paint. Looked very good.
Those look ok, an exception to the rule.

if I'm going for a "drag racing" look , I mount the black wall out. if I'm wanting a " muscle car" look, I mount them out. so far the Cooper cobras have the nicest/whitest , easiest to clean letters that don't brown. I won't buy BFG for that reason.

Not a fan of RWL tires. I always mount my tires in. I don't think my car should be a billboard for BFG tires. Plus, they look cluttered.

Thank all, for your responses! For what it is worth, i wimped out, and the rwl ended up on the inside. These will definately be on the outside. Please keep going, i think this is interesting.
Obviously a matter of opinion or just what you find to your liking. During the era some came factory with the letters like the then common Goodyear wide ovals, so then if ya wanna be period correct might stick with them. Today or over the past 10-15 plus years, cars come with black walls; but the wheels are larger with lower profile tires. Seems that white walls or letters on those would be pretty cluttered looking. And guys that went pretty radical with much larger wheels over stock on their old rides have solid black that makes sense to me. I went to 15" over the stock 14's and kinda wish I'd have gone 16"; but 1200 bucks later I got what I got. In my view, I have a lot of 'tire' to look at yet with the 15's and prefer the letters over all the black space or might have opted for red-lines given the color of my old mopar. Anyway some old vs new school...
I like them out.

Bar Keepers Friend and a stiff brush helps. Wesley's Bleach White works well,too.

Since the late '70's I have been using Wesley's Bleach White with a 2''x2'' brass bristled brush on one side and a plastic scrapper on the back side. Going around the sidewall, not from tread to rim, spray, brush, scrap and repeat, then rinse with water. Used on these tires in this order, Goodyear Polyglas GT, Dayton Super Sports, Firestone Super Sports and BFG. This last time (maybe two years ago) I did not see Wesley's at the auto store, so I ended up with a different brand.
I run everything with white letters out (WWO) except the work trucks (BWO).
I don't remember way back then having to scrub the white letters every week, maybe once a month if that. The Charger got a bath every week in the Summer months before Friday nights street action. Most nights I'd wipe her down. Once in a while though, I must say she looked good under the street lights at night with droplets of water all over her Burnt Orange body, Black Vinyl top and chrome wheels.

Like a few others have said, it depends on the vehicle. For muscle cars, I generally prefer them out. I have them out on my 70 Road Runner.
Out for me. But, in this cars case, it originally came with 14” white sidewall tires on plain painted steel wheels.. If I ever find a set of those, they will be going back on the original rims. Currently running 15”
