Good evening all,

So I have a 74 Charger. 400 HP. Factory air car but all the AC has been removed. When sitting in the car I get air from the vents in the Max AC and AC spots, but no air in the vent or heater locations. I might add the the air flow doesn't change when moving from low too high when I am getting air. I can hear the vent open when I move to vent, but again no air flow. Any ideas? I'm not sure where to even start. It's getting cold in Missouri so a little heat might be nice.

Not sure as my whole box was removed for racing. Possible vacuum leak to dampers but I'm not sure if they are cable or not. Do you at least get warm/hot air when sliding the temperature control to hot?? You should still get heat however maybe not where you want it. Also, does your car have a heater valve on the heater hose and do the lines get warm when engine is up to temp? Some heat is better than nothing.

I do have a heater valve installed. Yes the heater hose does get hot. No warm/hot air at all when moving to the vent/heater options. In the AC and Max AC spots I get air, but not really warm or hot. More like what you would expect from the vent selection.

Are the hoses to and from the heater (both) hot? As I recall, (I have a 73 Satty with A/C), the controller has both cables and pneumatic (vacuum) hooked up to it. My next question is: Is it possible that you are the victim of a unregistered guest,(mouse nest in the box)? I hope not as it is a royal pita to remove most of the time. Over the years I have had that happen on several vehicles. Also, I had a partially plugged heater core which was rectified by disconnecting the heater hoses at the fire wall and using a small acid pump for cleaning coils in furnaces to circulate white vinegar through the coil for a couple hours which worked very well. The vinegar causes no damage to the coil as opposed to acid which should only be used no more than a half dozen times as it actually eats through the metal. You could possibly hook a vacuum gauge somewhere to monitor a possible vacuum leak. As I think back, sometimes, due to age, the damper linkages get rusty and stick. In my case, I would be over joyed to have any heat at all, as I ain't got none, lol. Can't drive in the rain as the windshield fogs up almost immediately. :(

So update, today I moved the heater control valve all the way forward, (away from firewall), and that AC/Max AC air was hot. Still nothing in the Vent/Heater positions, but at least I have heat! As for the mouse and stuff, it sure is possible. I'll be taking it to my mechanic next week and flushing that heater core out will probably be on the agenda. We'll see what else we find in there!

I hope it is something simple and an easy fix. Good luck! I am sure a quick and inexpensive fix would "warm yer heart" and the rest of you too, LOL. Let me know how you make out! :)
