Not Shop - but house, remodeling a bath . . . ( mad scientist style ) . . .

The lighting does nothing for your tiled walls and accent in that picture.

Agreed . . . that green is really ugly, need to do another picture with a white light . . . looks pretty cool with that . . .

Finally had some nicer weather and no rain to be able to pour the bottom concrete for under the sink in the bath . . .

Pulled the forms off the concrete and have it in the sun to dry . . . this will go under the hole in the counter top and be a "backing" for the sink so that the water hitting the bottom of the sink does not have a tinny sound to it . . . want it to sound more solid then that . . .

Been wondering how the progress was going. Looking forward to the finished product.

LOL . . . I've been wondering too . . .

The picture of the "bottom" that is up above . . . did not work, something was wrong with the concrete, it did not hold up at all . . .

SO . . . I had to do round 2 of the bottom piece . . . and now . . .

sm_bathsink01.jpg

that piece has been glued in place to help support the bottom of the sink and make it so the water hitting the bottom of the sink does not sound "tinny" . . .

A couple of layers of sticky backed sound deadener would have gotten rid of the tinny sound. Most of the better stainless sinks use a deadener similar.

The reason that I didn't want sticky backed sound deadener . . . I wanted some support for the Drain as well as no "tinny" sound when the water hits it . . .

Finally getting back to this . . . let's just say that things have happened and this is now being able to be worked on . . .

Also, been thinking a lot about the fact that this sink is "missing" an overflow drain . . . and I think someone even mentioned it earlier ( but I can show you a cabinet top bowl type sink that also does not have an overflow ) . . . it still was bothering me . . . so I've done some more creative thinking and more "mad scientist" fabrication . . . and came up with this . . .

Added a dual overflow for this sink, and I feel better bout it - they are stainless steel - should be great . . .

from there, they will exit out the back and drain in above the J-trap . . .

sm_bath154.jpg

got the sink secured to the bottom with silicone . . .
added a 1/8" bead around the edge to ( hopefully) make the water slope toward the drain - it's pulled down tight . . .

sm_bath155.jpg

added a piece of aluminum on the bottom as my hole did not alight quite right, and the nut had no purchase to hold down the sink . . . it does now . . .

sm_bath156.jpg

Finally getting this figured out and making some progress on getting it completed . . . can't wait to be done with this . . .

You may have never needed the over flow. But there is peace of mind knowing its there if ever needed.

So true . . . but better safe thab sorry . . . that's why I added it into the system . . . piece of mind ! ! !

Needless to say . . . this is LONG overdue . . . but work on the BATH is finally getting done . . .

Have not had a need to get this done, and have been busy on the SHOP . . .
But I'm finally putting some attention into this project and trying to get it completed . . .

All that is left is to get the faucet installed . . . but the plans changed, and I have to figure out HOW it will be done now.

Actually have the backsplash in place . . .

But . . . I've got an idea and I'm going to work on trying to get this wrapped up ! !

More Later . . .

what's the yellowish thing between the tub and backsplash?

Just how low (or high) is that countertop ?!?!? Seems to me that sink would be awkward to use at that angle with all that countertop in the way.

Standard bathroom vanity height . . .

Yeah . . . might have been better all the way around if it was square to the front of the counter top . . . but it was done that way for "artistic flair" . . .

BUT . . . it's that way now . . . for now . . .

I'll take "artistis flair" with a heavy dose of "practicality" please !!

If we wanted practicality none of us would own old Mopars now would we. He only needs to have access to one end of the tub to wash clothes anyway. So what's the problem?
