Ok fellas. Was with the boys today and talking about the "fastest muscle car". You know something that scared you and left you saying holy crap man. Not a caged race car or a trailer queen, but something that your remember that was exceptional and not safe. Something evil...but in a good way. An adrenalin shot on wheels. 50s hot rods welcome also. Full cars. Small blocks, big blocks, all varieties. I remember a a 63 dodge 330 that my uncle had. 426 410 gears. Changed my life. My brother always talks about his buddies 428 mustang. I despise mustangs and have literally fought him over it. Let's here some stories gentlemen.

Perceived. 400 4 Speed 68 Firebird. Manual brakes and steering. My friend Randy back in the day. Terror. Good heater in that car. Bronze with a black vinyl roof.

Yes! I remember a 327 camaro that seemed very quick. My buddy would get tires from the junkyard he burned them up so fast. Something about that camaro.

Fastest light to light or 1/4 car 68 Big Block Camaro.

Fastest top end 71 GTX....first time I experienced the solid white line and ever thought about tire failure. Good Times!!

Oh man. Camaros. Yeah been in some hot ones myself. Maybe its because there's just so many of them somebody gets one right. What up with the maros?

My brothers 68 383 4 speed dart. Didn't even like being in that car. Especially with him driving. Such an idiot. Deathtrapdart.

Randy had a brother in law, Ernie. 421 Super Duty. 8 lug. Remember the vacuum gauge on the console? Always pegged on Power. If a guy pulled out in front of us, he’d nail the gas and try to hit him. Metallic Green.

The only car I was in that scared me a bit was my own back in the day when I first bought it. Actually had a buddy drive it for me the night I bought it. Scared the crap out of all of us. It was loose as a goose back then and I blew the motor not long after. It might seem tame to many but the 440 with a light cam and just the stock carb and build was a big deal to me. After that I became a little looney and nothing really scared me. Only beat once on the street and that was by a bad *** Boss 429. I just assumed it was faster. Never rode in it but really admired that car.

Fastest race was in a 1970 Mach 1 351 Cleveland with shaker package racing a hemi Cuda on a one way street at 100mph. The Cuda won, but holy crap, that was a dangerous street race, and the cops said it was the best race they had seen all night after they gave my buddy a huge ticket!

Fastest top end, the first time was in a 1964 Chevelle Wagon, doing 130mph when I was 12 years old. Second time was doing 130mph in my roadrunner down a 6% grade highway and getting passed by a BMW. Third time was racing a 77 Camaro in a 77 Monza spider with a 305 and neither car could go faster than 130mph and the Camaro driver pulled a suicide pass (that's passing on the shoulder of the highway) of another car that was in front of us.

93 dodge stealth. Pretty sure it was a twin turbo with all wheel steering and a manual trans. Drove it once and was amazed at the power and handling.

They always seem faster from the passenger seat....my mate in Wales had a 71 Camaro, 350 with a 284 cam, 4 spd. It felt mega fast, but when we eventually raced it was line ball up to 100 mph, although he did blow past me after that. All I had was a lowly 318 Barracuda auto, hopped up for sure, but still only a 318.

Old muscle had to be my 69 GTX that I got when I was 16 years old. Modern muscle would be my buddies Hellcat Redeye Challenger. But I agree with the statement that it always seems faster in the passenger seat.

My buddy's 64 dodge, 440(dressed as a 426)4spd, dana 60 4.88 gears.... **** that car moved !

When I was probably 15, a buddies older brother came in from Tennessee with his 70 Hemi Cuda. He had a big hood scoop on it with an airbrushed picture of the reaper in a graveyard. Across the scythe, it said Mopar and there were 2 tombstones, one said chevy and the other ford. But it didn't just look nasty, it was! I still remember him banging though the gears with that pistol grip.
That was the scariest ride I ever took even to this day but I'm sure of lot of that was just my perception since I was still a kid. One thing for sure though, the impression that car made on me is what started my love affair with Mopar

My first 1964 polara 500 it would make you crap. Then my 1969 gtx what a ride.

Quickest owned? Probably my '68 Bee back in the early 80's.
By the time we got done fooling with it, the transplanted 440 was warm, 18 spline fresh
and 3.91 gears - and a whole lot of "lightening" of the body - made for a quick street car.
The "warehouse drag club" we had going on in those days, I never lost a race in her.
Damn, I miss that car...I really, really miss her.

Quickest I've ever driven would probably be like a lot of other folks - a Hellcat.
Close 2nd might have been the '68 Dart SS clone a buddy had paid a fortune for some shop
to build for him, also early 80's - the car was pretty much an exact copy of the factory hemi
Darts, only he was scared to actually race it. :)
He talked me into running it at the Mopar Nats a couple times that year. Paid me in beer.
After a few rounds, I got scared of the thing, too. Definitely could go faster than I could handle, too,
come to find out.

All that aside, the fastest I've ever been in a car (start those "wimpy" jokes now!) was a sustained 140+
in my old 5.0 Mustang (well, indicated on the speedo anyways). A big downhill on I-81 in southern VA.
Those things get REAL light in the front end when you do that... very stupid, but I was younger, eh?

When I was a kid, a family friend took me for a ride in his new 1970 340 Duster 4 sp. He beat on that car. And hooked me on mopars. As a kid in the passenger seat, that thing flew.
Nowadays, my buddy's LO23 68 Hemi Dart gets my attention in the passenger seat.

Good question. Stocker has to be a 69 Six Pak Bee a neighbor bought new. Modified a A-990 on the Street.
The one I'll take to the grave was a real 68 SS/B Sox and Martin Cuda.Man what a ride !

A friends old Fox body Mustang, built, small block with a Pro Charger. Stupid fast street car!!
