Anyone have a photo of the inner door panel for a power window car?
My doors look like they were standard and someone "modified" them for the power windows.
The inner door panel has a crude "cutout" for clearance to the back of the switches.
Really, The metal that was removed "cutout", looks like they drilled a series of holes to remove part of the inner door panel.
This is for the '69 Coronet

I have a pair of 74 PW doors and panels.

The hole in the door is stamped, so it should be there for all cars regardless of PW or not.

On the back of the door panels, there also should be a molded outline rectangle (driver's) or a square (all others) as a placement locator for the switch.

Could someone have added PW to your car and put the switch in the wrong place? Or maybe replaced a door from a non PW car?)

In 71 and up, the rear window crank is in the upper panel, but the PW switch goes in the lower, making it difficult to retrofit a factory PW setup without sourcing at least PW (or uncut) upper panels. Again the lowers have a PW switch cutout template even if the car has crank windows.

That's not true, the factory made a very sloppy cut when the car received power windows. And not all doors had this cut-out, only power window cars. I've seen several and they weren't pretty looking.

74 is a molded plastic panel... No bearing on how a 69 panel was made..

My door has stamped openings for pw switches and it was non-pw doors. 69 RR and doors were 69 GTX. Both were the same.

card panels should have perforations, like for the remote mirror option, which not all cars had.

The trim door panel has the pre-marked perforations for the switches, but wondering id the inner door steel is any different.
I have some doors in better condition that I may put on the car, but they are manual crank window doors. Just want to see if they actually need to be modified for power windows, or if the previous owner made the clearance holes for no good reason?

On all the ones I've seen the switch housing just clamps to the interior panel with folded over tabs.

Only thing on the door shells is a depression to clear the wiring, which is stamped in all panels regardless of window option.

Sort of what I was thinking, so I don't know why the previous owner cut the holes in the doors behind the switches?

The factory cut the door frame out to clear the back of the switch. I've seen 3 different power window cars have the same looking cut, it wasn't pretty but functioned well. lol
