Asking because I have one quart of it but have a couple of quarts of Mobil 1 full syn gear oil. They are both bottled in the same color bottle which probably means nothing but since they are both full syn oil of the same weight, can they be used together? Both have limited slip additives already in them. Yeah, I'm finally getting my diesel back on the road....bout time eh.

Can it be used with the Mobil 1?

Throw it in there. Should be fine.

My OCD says go buy another bottle of either Valvoline or M1 though.

Yeah it is! You spend to much time here as it is!:poke::poke::poke:
I work awhile and then take a break. Just because it shows I'm online doesn't mean I'm at my computer. Plus if I go to a restaurant and get bored of messing with the waitresses, I check in on my phone. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Toss it in and don’t sweat it.

After doing the stink test.....they both 'smelt' the same so, in it went! Did a little test drive in the neighborhood (no insurance) and got up to 35 and it was nice to not hear the whine of the old gears. Really let those go for too long and there was plenty of specs of metal in the thing. Took a good bit of time cleaning the housing out but now I have new gears AND a Power Lock!

I would think it would be fine. For example, if you needed to add a little to a rearend, and didn't know what was in it already, would you not add because it may not be compatable?
As an aside, a good friend of mine owned a one-man rearend shop, specializing in 9"ford, but did my 8 3/4s (and my 9 inchers too) and everything that came into his shop. If a customer insisted on synthetic gear oil, he would warrantee his work for six seconds, or six inches, whichever came first. He used and recommended nothing but torco, and in california, the heaviest you can find. He never had a comeback from bad lubrication. He felt synthetic was too slippery to stay on the ring gear to provide sufficient cushioning film.

I’d top it off with Marvel...just to be sure.

Man, I've heard both negative and the positive and even did some research on the syn in a new build and didn't run across anything about not using it. Did hear some years back about it not clinging but it sure felt like it wasn't going to be easy to get it off my hands lol. Guess I'll find out in due time. Only reason I'm using the full syn is because someone gave me some plus I had that one bottle of the Valvoline but heck if I remember where that came from. It was still sealed up though. And I'm just the opposite....I work on nothing but 8 3/4's and Dana's and so far, never had a comeback unless someone wanted another rear end done. Oh yeah, did one 9" about 20 years ago.

We use synthetics a lot up here. You can mix them no problem, even mix it with non synthetic.
It’s not carved in stone but our rule of thumb is that the combination is as good as your worst ingredient. Both of yours are fine, mixing them will be fine.
