I may be needing a Transmission Valve body and I am wondering which ones will interchange ? I have a Stock 1968 727 W/Small block. and looking for a Stock replacement. Thanks in advance.

Whats the backstory with the one you have?? Replied on FABO, old ones wont work, like '66 and earler and late model lockup ones wont work, like most '79 and newer, but many in between will work, small block and big block alike. The governer determines the shift points (in the trans, not the valve body), so many valve bodies are likely to interchange just fine.

I have access to a '66 Imperial Trans. that had column shift and I believe it is the same Valve Body. The problem is I get a Harsh engagement while in 2nd.going into drive at low speed .This does not happen every time. My trans guy says the valve body is worn. Again this does not happen on a fast takeoff, only happens "Occasionally" while starting out slow. Hot or cold doesn't matter.

That could be the valve body.... but it could also be sticky governor, servos or accumulator as well, and possibly broken parts or sealing rings too. So, sticky, especially in the governor, could just be dirt, and I mean dirt thats not likely to make it's way out on a fluid change. '66 is a transition year, and the valve body may work, but if I were you, I'd be prepared for the fact that a valve body may not repair the issue at all. You can certainly pull your valve body apart and look for excess wear and sticky valves, burrs in the bores, etc. and throw it back in too. Let us know what you find once you get in there. Try to look for a 66-68 vb if you are looking to keep the single pole neutral safety switch.

you will like part throtle kick down
I'd stay away from the early rod shift 66
transgo level 2 reprogramming kit

Not sure on the '66 VB? Is that cable shift, rear pump, or solid rod shifter with just the front pump?
There were a lot of small changes to the valve bodies over the years, but you can usually swap different years if you use the right rooster comb for the neutral safety switch.

my 65 was cable shift 66 rod shift but 66 is sorta unique
call the transgo hot line for specific questions
451 is correct
