Hi Guys,

I need to remove the dash/ cluster in my 64 polara. I have looked through the service manual from Chrysler and there is nothing on there about this. Can anyone point me in the direction of some instructions for doing this?

I need to see what Is going on with the temp gauge not reads very high and well driving is pinned to the right side even cold it shows 3/4 of the way all the other gauges and lights work fine and I verified that the motor is not that hot. I also replaced the sending unit and didn't t-tape the threads the gauge does go to the far left when the car is turned off. wonder if its out of calibration? I also need to remove my heater push button as 3 of the nipples are broken off the back.
 
The temp gauge in my 65 Coronet is goofy too. Winter project. You will find the cluster is screwed to the dash frame around its perimeter. First: disconnect the battery! Unscrew the speedo cable. Drop the steering column (unbolt the floor plate too) and remove the cluster screws, tilt back toward the rear, unplug the electrical connector, unbolt the ammeter nuts and check for anything else requiring disconnection. Pull out and head for the bench. Cold beer may be in order also.

Could be voltage limiter, I'd replace with a solid state V limiter if you pull cluster. Do your fuel gauge move up and down some or is just temp?

Thank you I wasn’t sure about the steering Column and for sure this will entail a few cold ones

Yes the fuel gauge works fine the temp gauge moves but is pretty much pinned to the right when warm I assumed it would be calibration
 
On my 65 Dodge only had to lower column, didn't unbolt floor plate. When you unplg cluster be Very careful pins on curcyit board are fragile . Easy on brewski's 'til that's done.
 
Having my cluster out several times on my '63 Ply, protect the steering column from getting scratched and also the bottom of the bezel. Yeah, be gentle-gentle with the pin harness, remove straight and slowly as the pins are fragile. You my need to disconnect the heavier amp gauge wiring before doing the harness to allow more room for fingers. Also the speedo cable slack might let you remove that from above once you have the bezel pulled out a bit; but in my case I get under the dash and unscrew that first. I haven't lowered the column when doing this and sounds like a nice idea. Since I have to remove the cluster again will give it a try.
