Hey all,

Super frustrating. No, I don't have a climate controlled storage area here in Wisconsin. I've driven my GTX less than 200 miles in the 10 years these headers have been on the car.

Are these something I could have coated? If so, where? How much?

I don't want to reinvent the wheel, as the exhaust is custom 3 inch all the way back. Do I buy the same header again, just to buy a third set in a few years after the engine detail is complete?

Thoughts, and opinions welcomed.

Thanks.

Will

There are many ceramic coating businesses out there. Call some.
And put some more miles on that car!

I have Hookers on my 67 Hemi GTX. They have been on the car for 20 years. Had them coated inside and out. I drive about 3,000 mile a year. No problem.

I purchased bare Hooker super comps for my Cuda. Had them ceramic coated and they still look good.
You need to find a placed like this: https://www.jet-hot.com/american-muscle
I've tried the blast and paint without much success. My experience was the paint peels off after a few heat cycles.

Yep....if you have the wedge get them blasted and ceramic coated....if not them clean them up as best you can....rattle can them in Sperex Heat proof paint (or whatever its called over there)…..and then wrap them end to end in exhaust wrap bandage. It looks like you are serious car guy plus you get a bit less heat under the hood. Allegedly improves scavenging effect too....not sure about that though!!

200 miles in 10 years? THAT is the real source of your frustration (said in my best Dr. Ruth voice).
As for the header coating... no paint works unless your car is never started and sits in a climate controlled environment.
