What are you guys noticing in the buy/sell world? I'm not talking hemi roadrunners, but common cars like a 68 sattelite project, or a 67 belvedere 4 Dr in nice condition. You know, basic cars.

Alot of people I know are having no luck selling the not super rare numbers matching stuff, and decent projects. I've noticed prices either low or crazy high

I have a decent.PT cruiser GT winter beater for sale in decent shape, asking 1300 obo, advertised everywhere locally for 3 weeks, no calls/emails. That's a first

What are you guys seeing?

It's Thanksgiving and Christmas season, gift priorities are here. I'm sure it's more than just collector car sales. New car dealers are doing deep discounts etc.

These forums are dead as far as selling, everything I sell now is on one of the many facebook car related groups. Some of the groups have 200k plus memebers and the you get hits right away not like here where it just sits

I still refuse to join Facebook, even if I never sell anything. You might as well be reporting everything to the government. Invasion of privacy.

I haven't had any luck there either. 10 yrs ago I'd get lowballers at least, and im not even getting those on anything. I was thinking about getting into fixing repairables again, but now doubtful

this is quite true, they do track Everything you do saleswise.
also, its just as hard to get people to follow thru as it is on craigslist.
doesnt seem to matter if you are buying or selling either.
i do gotta say tho, theres some great deals on wheels daily on the marketplace.
a guy working with a good sum of money could buy quite the fleet of flippers and projects .

That's the problem, I really don't think you could unless you.got them ReAL cheap. I was flipping old Acclaim/Chrysler k cars 10 years ago. I'd put head gaskets in them, and a quick sale @ 800-1200. They sold within a week. It seems like people REALLY don't have any money now, or something else is going on

I have a few friends that just about live on Facebook that keep me informed and will follow up if I have a interest.

I dont have facebook either. There was a time when if you wanted to know something a friend was doing you would call them. I dont need to weed through 50k in posts to find out they ate a cheese burger at taco mac. Screw Facebook.

It's just like that Alexa thing my wife bought. It listens to everything. I unplugged it a month ago and my wife hasn't noticed yet. She will probably hook it back up when she asks it to play music, but I will quietly unplug it again if she does. No I'm not paranoid, just careful who sees or hears what. :)

I agree with you guys on FB and Alexa. Don’t have anything to do with either platform. FB especially grinds me. My wife and I are both in sync on this stuff. I see people glued to their phones and pouring over it - I always wonder what the hell everyone is so stuck too. I think a lot of it is FB.

I wouldn't compare the sale of a 15 year old beater to be in the same category as selling a 50 year old collector car.

where to start well...
facebook Marketplace..is to be considered a side forum of fb,
much like the buysell forum here would be a part of the site but not all of it.
you Dont have to wade thru anyones hamburger stories, its just cars.

the other forums on fb,like the mopar Swap Shop,is setup the same way,
its all run by car guys not drama queens.
however,on the private forums people can make comments on your for sales so best to have a thick skin.

so,you dont even have to read your own page nor comments from anyone,
you just click the marketplace and into car heaven.
hope this helps you guys out..fb Marketplace is not the devil.
fb itself may be lol ....

also, you will see a lot of regs and even some forum members there.
im pretty sure i know who you were on fb mopornocar,
esp after you mentioned the acclaims .
cheers.

what im seeing now more than any time before is the lazy factor.
nobody wants to fix anything anymore.
people want the car to be running driving damm near perfect for cheap or they just arent buying.
ill have to agree with rc,im not sure how acclaims could be considered classics altho i am aware theres a following.

theres record numbers of people bailing out of projects, again because they cannot afford them or gave up on finishing them.
right now on fb market,im seeing a lot of good decent projects around the 5k mark.
hence my earlier comment.
this is not just mopars, its the whole slate of cars across the boards.

Have a frame on restored 66 Big Block
Vett.convertible for sale.
Have had it for 20 yrs.
Everything rebuilt, only around 400 miles on drive train.
A lot of Lookers, problem, they have no money.

Anybody that is selling stuff that doesn’t use FB for the international exposure is just shooting themselves in the foot. You don’t have to show everybody your breakfast every day, but to turn your back on a few million potential buyers just isn’t good business sense. I use it as a tool, and it works for me.

I don't understand it, I read all the time how great the economy is and how many jobs are unfilled, you'd think more people would have the disposable income to buy these cars.
