PayPal question for you guys who sell stuff and use them

That's why when I sell something, I tell the buyer to send it via Friends and Family and no fee is deducted. Saves me and the seller money because if they will not do it that way, then I always charge them for the Pay Pal service charge...cr8crshe/Bill

I hate to burst your bubble buddy BUT Paypal doesn't do anything for "free". When someone sends funds by "friends and family", THEY pay the fees. Here's and example of how it works:

Scenario A
You sell something for $10 and the buyer pays "normally" ... you receive the funds LESS the fees.

Scenario B
You sell something for $10 and the buyer sends funds via "friends and family" ... you receive the full $10, the buyer pays the fees.

Ain't nothin free in this world.

I also have a PP credit account. It is through synchronicity bank, not actually PP. As long as your credit account is in good standing(payments up to date), it won't effect you PP account. They are separate. If your credit account is past due, then it will effect your credit score. Not sure if they will freeze available funds on PP as I have never defaulted on my account.
Hope that helps.

Actually they don't repport it to any of the Credit agencies. I use Credit Karma to monitor my credit...Free by the way...and there are no listing with either Experian, or Trans Union of my having a Pay Pal account. If you are saying that in fact they will mess up your credit rating, then would you please show us an example. I have had a Pay Pal account and Credit account now for over 10 years and have never had an issue nor have they reported anything to any Credit Agency that monitors me...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:
Actually, PayPal, which is Synchronicity Bank, started reporting to credit agencies a few months ago. It's listed on Credit Karma as Syncb/ppc.
At least it is on mine and has been for a few months now.

I think they look at PayPal Credit and PayPal as two different indices, as long as your PayPal credit account is current PayPal transactions will not be affected.
This is closest to what I'm asking I think.
I have a long-time PP Credit account; I also have a "PayPal Cash Plus" account, which if it has a positive balance, can be used to pay the PP credit payment each month (even partially, with funds from my "real" checking for the rest if needed).
So...
If I sell something, here or elsewhere, and accept PP for payment, that money goes to the Cash Plus thing I think;
Jerry is right because when I click on the PP credit one, it takes you to off-site to Syncophy or Symphony or whatever.
(Yes, I'm current on the account).

I do think they keep these things separate:
- there's the traditional PP buying and selling thing, which is linked to your real account (and I think they still require
a backup CC as well to have an account?)
- then there's the PP Credit account

Thanks to those of you trying to answer my question! :)
Those of you just posting to say "read the rules, moron" - well, save it. You aren't helping.

Thank you sir. Jerry and you are saying the same thing, which actually helps answer what I'm asking. :)

I'm sorry scenario B is incorrect I have bought things from our friends here on FBBO and sent funds by PayPal friends and family. They received the full amount and only that amount was deducted from my balance or bank account.

if you get payed by a Echeck.. from the buyer there is a wait time for that echeck to clear prior to withdrawl. so make sure you dont ship the item til the echeck has cleared.. as for selling a item and they pay via paypal.. and its in your pp account.. you can withdrawl right away.. but it usually takes about 3 days for it to hit your bank account.. now keep in mind.. that if there is any discrepincy with the item you sold.. and any type of dispute is started.. pp will snag those funds from your account till the find a solution to the dispute.. paypal will always take a fee for a transaction.

if your not using ebay.. thats good.. there fees are high..

This is definitely incorrect. If paying by friends and family, the receiver receives the full amount. The payer is ONLY charged a fee if using a credit card. If this is a true friends and family deal, that’s fine, but it offers no buyer protection when making purchases. If paying by goods/services there is a (let’s round up) 4% fee imposed on the seller and it is taken by PayPal immediately. This fee is buyer protection. Friends/family and goods/services are your 2 choices. This is why you see some sellers asking for the buyer to cover the fee. Hope this helps.

This is not true. If a person pays for something using friends and family, there are no fees for the buyer or seller. Of course if you do that and a problem with the transaction arrises, Paypal will not get involved.

My Paypal acct. is tied to my checking acct. When I buy something using PP, it comes out of checking. If I sell something and get paid by PP, it goes into my PP acct, that I can then transfer to checking if I want, or if you buy something again using PP, it will be paid out of that PP balance if not transferred back to checking. Think of it as a separate online checking acct that's tied to your checking. Hope this helps?

To those that I disagreed with you are missing the point actually. There is no fee for Friends and Family. I have never had an issue by doing it this way and all my transactions here on FBBO which is where I sell mostly have been thorough and above board. Ya'll might want to re-read the policy points again because you are mistaken again. CudaChick...you are a business. I am just a small individual horse trading where as you are operating a business are you not??? Vastly different side of the coin as it were. And I still do not have a hit on my credit report that is for Pay Pal. Explain that to me please??? cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

So much misinformation out there on this it surprises me a lot!!! Those that have an issue with Pay Pal obviously don't understand how it works and therefore bitch about it because of their lack of understanding. I have had a Pay Pal account since its inception and have never had a fault or issue with them at all. Just it seems that anyone that has had a problem in the past are the ones dog piling on those that have not had problems...Just sayin' is all...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Ed,
let me know what you have I may can use some of it and of course no shipping required
Oh, just oddball stuff. Right off the top of my head...
a couple 440 distributors (one each points and electronic), a practically new trans crossmember from
Brewers (allows 70-up 4 speeds in 69-back cars; also good for any 69-back automatic).
Even got a pair of old 516 heads (which probably nobody wants).
A set of 15x7 rallyes, the original wheelcovers for the GTX...
Valve covers, all manner of small parts, etc.
No major stuff though - if those are any good, they're on the car.
Thanks for asking, my friend. Text me if any of that interests you. :)

It's actually no different at all since what I do qualifies under the Goods & Services payment option.

I can't explain it Bill, but like I said earlier, it just showed up on my credit report about 2 months ago. I, like you have had my PayPal account for what seems like forever. Try contacting Synchrony Bank.
