Minnesota Gold

I think I've got a crush on this car :monkeyleft:

...and I think the "green" is weathering.

So I found something interesting. I think P6E interior code might not be for White and Gold, but Black and Gold. I have the same interior code, and I know my interior had been replaced, and is now Black and Gold, so when decoding the fender tag I just thought the original owner must have changed it. Well I started digging into this again to help out here, and I think I found something. All the online decoders have it as White and Gold, but I have never seen it published anywhere (official Chrysler), nor ever seen that actual combination when doing research. That doesn't mean it's not true as Mopar has done some interesting things, but when digging again I decided to go back to the 1967 Parts Catalog to see if the actually listed the colors there, not just part number and description, and at almost the very end of the book under the interior section it lists the color codes and lists P6E as Black and Gold. Would love to get any one else's input on this as I have the same interior code and would love to know what is correct. Thanks, Paul

Well, got deep into the motor this weekend to get her looked at. Not bad at all really....still seized tight, but lots of shiny valves and and push rods. Lifers are a bit still, but removed intake and valve covers....MM Oil and Seafoam Deep Creep on the cam and bearings. My biggest issue on the tear-down thus far is the darn water pump housing...but bottom bolts busted....no matter how kindly I treated them....heated, soaked....ect....they just had too much rusted housing to pass through. I got the housing backed off about 1/4 inch and could saw them off I suppose....drill and tap them out of the block....but was hoping that maybe I could just keep soaking them..

There is/was a factory 67 Cornet 500 2dr hdtp nearby that was your colour combination. It’s a 6PE. All factory original interior. I supplied a fender for it on 2 different accidents with 2 different owners, neither was their fault. Gold and black, and your piping is just fading differently from the seat covers.

Thanks for the clarification. It's crazy that every where has it listed as White and Gold. I guess even now there are things to be discovered! I even saw it listed that way in a Mopar book from 2004 titled "Original Dodge and Plymouth B-Body Muscle 1966-1970" Link

Week 2 of the Mavel Mystery oil marinade. Got the balancer off and got the crank socket on there with a 18in breaker bar. Still holding firm. I'm going to have arms like Popeye if the keeps up, hehe. Was thinking of taking the heads off and helping the pistons out with a direct soak.

Been a bit since I posted on this.....life......but I managed to pull pistons 4,6,and 8....and we have rotation. Its pretty much the wrist pins. These things are stiff as 82' Ron Jeremy. Got the flex plate bolts out and will pull motor this week. Going to drop it off at machine shop and let them give it a good going over. Trying to keep it stock as possible so I'm having the folks over there have a good look at the heads and cam too. Besides the pins being so stiff, they pistons came right out.....so all that soaking helped I'm sure.

You sure you don't just want to give me that car?

Promise I'd take good care of it.

Got most of the interior out, and will need to drop in new floor pan. Passenger side is not too bad, but if you're going to do it.....might as well do it all. Was wondering what interior manufacturer to go with. Going to need panels, seats and the whole enchilada. Legendary is ok, used them before.....but SMS seems to be way higher quality....

Given that this is a bucket seat car.....when looking at the floor pan....there seems to be some reinforcement panels welded to the pan on the inner two seat bolts......I assume I may need to salvage these to place back on the new pan.....I'll add a pic.

Got the 383 out . Amazing pulling an original motor....took lots of pics of parts and seals . The rear main was really interesting. No rope. Was a hard seal

My 66 is completely unmolested.

My 73 was. Still has an original heater hose.

Was quite happy to see the condition of the block once it was out, and in the light.

Trying to decide weather to replace whole floor pan or just half. I want to keep as much metal as I can, as this car deserves it. Passenger pan is not too bad at all

Went a bit nuts with the pics , but none of this stuff has been touched since it was built. Pretty cool to see where everything goes at this stage
