Who’s been on an Intl cruise - Goods & Bads

Youtube video pretty interesting. Those poor bastards. Life jackets sure have changed. Helicopter ride wasn’t in the brochure. No music. Even the Titanic had a Band.

I sailed from Barcelona to Italy. It was the beginning of September very smooth with some very slight rocking. It was a full day at sea to make that trip.
Here's what I will tell you and forgive me if you already know. Around the time you book your cruise make the reservations for excursions asap..
Now we were on a Disney cruise and they sponsor excursions with tour companies or you can book your own independently.
But and this is important, how it is with whatever cruise line you use, I dont know but when you book excursions in ports through Disney the ship will NOT leave with out you. If you book independently and are late the ship WILL leave with out you!
Make sure you find out the details
When we were in Nice, my son in law took the three girls on a excursion. I took a different one with my wife and daughter.
On the way back to the ship the bus carrying my son in law and G kids broke down and they with some other passengers were late.
The cruise ship was anchored off shore and they had these small boats that would transport passengers back and forth. I was a nervous wreck waiting for them but a Disney first mate informed us the boat was going know no were with out these passengers.
Just something I thought you should know and best of luck, have a great time

Cruise ship incidents are like plane crashes ... you have a greater chance of being struck by lightning. By far the worst part of any cruise is dealing with the ignorant passengers who suddenly think they're royalty and the staff should kiss their ***. And then there's the gluttony in the dining room and buffets !!

"Carnival" says it all ... welcome Walmart shoppers ! Most passengers are low class, low budget, loud mouth, overweight schmucks who got a last minute deal and are there for the sole purpose of tying on the feedbag and abusing the staff (whom they wrongfully consider lower class!). Been on enough Carnival cruises to know that's the "norm" not the exception! Just got back from a two week cruise on Celebrity and for a few bucks more the difference is like night and day.

Well we just booked a second trip on the high seas. We’re doing the Alaska cruise for 7 nights in May/2020. This time it’s on a new ship. Ovation of the Seas. We had a nice time on the Mediterranean cruise. This time it’s going to be a family adventure with siblings and nephew/kids. I’ve heard a lot about the Alaska trips - said to be awesome. My wife is doing great and we’re obviously very blessed to be even able to cruise again. Looking forward to that incredible food they offer and hitting the high seas again.

My daughter and son in law just did an Alaska cruise for their honeymoon. They caught the last week of the cruise season for Alaska and got great bargains from all the shops in Port because of that. They loved it and had amazing pics from there trip.
Before my first cruise I found a website called cruise critic. It has loads of info on different ports of call, where and how to book excursions on your own, etc. They even have a 'roll call' where you can meet others who will be going on the same cruise.

First cruise, my 12 year old daughter in Mexico

I would have been worried that they'd toss her in a big pot and cook her for dinner.

We have 4 cruises booked this winter on RC and looking forward to the sun....:drinks:

There are places in the US that are more of a "shithole" than Belize !!

as you can see above there are some bad events on cruises too
seems more & more in the news

chalk it up to **** happens, seems like a lot more recently too

I've been a Hawaiian, a Mexican cruise & Caribbean all were great
did the inside passage & glaciers tour/cruise from Vancouver to Homer too
all on different cruise lines, none were really better than the others

other than the Jamaica part of the Caribbean, I truly hated it there

I almost got left behind on the Hawaiian cruise, after a round of golf ran late

I was rarely ever in my room, on any of the cruises, except to sleep or get busy...

Well we took the plunge so to speak. Booked a Mediterranean & Adriatic Sea cruise going to Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, and Greece. Eleven days on the high seas. We’re going mid October pending a favorable outcome of my wife’s PET scan this Tuesday. We have a balcony stateroom ship assigned so I don’t know where on the boat it will be. We’re pretty jazzed up because this has been a trying summer with the cancer and all. Neither of us has been on a cruise before so the whole thing will be a new experience. The only things that concerns me is the ship is an older one commissioned in 1998 so it’s 20years old but has been refurbished. Reviews of the boat and all that comes with it are mixed. Many people said it was a great cruise and thought the boat was very nice, clean and good service. Then there were the reviews that weren’t so good and knocked everything. Didn’t know how to take that - my experience with American travelers is they can be very fussy and ultra particular. In any case we’re going cruising!!
good luck & I hope you enjoy your cruise

My wife and I enjoyed an Alaskan cruise a couple of years ago, it was one of the best cruises we’ve been on. We had a balcony room which was awesome as the scenery is unbelievable. We also went in May and had decent weather. Update us when you’ve completed the cruise. Enjoy!
