I have some lifters bleading down and wanted to replace them.
I talked to my builder Rich Koffel and his opinion is live with it because a new set will most likely be the same.
Engine is a pretty stock 440 six bbl with a Mr. Six Pack cam and stock rockers and shaft.
Current lifters are comp cams, but don't know which ones.
There must be something reliable out there.
Thanks

My last build I had a new comp cam and lifters.4 failed to pump up. Removed them, took them apart cleaned them even though I didn't find anything, put the engine back together. Failed again. Bought new Isky lifters, no problem.
I agree if they sit for a period of time you will get bleed down. Even the Iskys did when the car sits for several weeks.
Though annoying, as long as they do pump up I agree with leaving it alone. If you do buy lifters, those with a snap ring are supposed to be better than the wire clip that holds them together. That's why I went with Iskys.

Isky or Crane Anti pump ups. The Comp Hi-Energy are a crap shoot. I have a Comp XE268 kit in my 440 and have been noisy cold from day 1. My 470 Duster has a Comp solid and are quieter the the hydros cold.

Hydraulic lifters are so hit-and-miss these days...especially with good spring pressure. I think we know by now that they're all made by only one or two manufacturers anymore. The only way to go for anything 'performance' is solid in my opinion. I know that's getting off topic though and not helpful..So I would say try the Topline-Johnson lifters. The anti-pump up style are okay too but you must have adjustable rockers to run them as they call for very little preload.

I used a Crower cam, and the lifters they offered, in my 440. I'm well satisfied with both. No bleed down, that I've noticed.
Might be worth looking at.

Very happy with Crower hyd lifters myself.

I have a couple lifter leakdown testers. I’ve done some testing on some different brands.
Crower has been excellent. I will say, they do like .060” preload. They seem to bleed to that point and then the rate of bleed is much longer. I put adjustable pushrods on my Buick engine with them. Never heard anything so quiet on the dyno.

Crower and Isky and a very few others use a different lifter vendor
If hyd I recommend modding them to match the small chevy v6 and buick trick by grinding a flat on the side for oiling
I think Howard and others may offer these but it's really easy to do with a magnetic chuck grinder and a v block
Crower rep is dart19666 ask him
