GTXKID. I assumed this forum to be a (safer) place to buy. I wasn't really looking, but emotions got the best of me. I purchased the coronet convertible he listed on here. Price was agreed upon, and was assured in multiple conversations and text messages the trim was complete, that car was rust free, and he would send me everything we discussed. I was even told “i worry to much”. Well, instinct was acreaming this guy was a snake, bit emotion overrode sense. Car was delivered today. Missing the hood, which is now in a pissing match between the driver, the seller, and the insurance company. Better yet, missing the convertible trim pieces i was assured multiple time would be included. The seat, is falling apart from rust. Was told “its solid”. The icing? The a pillars have been cut and slovenly welded back. The top sits 1/2” lower then the other two b body verts i have here. HOW IN THE HELL does this not come up when asked repeatedly if the car had any major issue or repairs. He claims he never saw it... What a clusterfuck. Michael has just stopped responding to my texts, and claims he cannot talk, at work. I know nothing can be fixed tonight, but my next call is my credit card company. Here i sit, the sucker, out almost 7k for a pile. Really perplexed. From a member here? I know there are bad apples everywhere. But ive found two within a month. On here.

Sorry this happened. Car purchased sight unseen?

i saw the car for sale, justin commented on it, looked like alot or work, hope you work things out good luck.

Yes basically. Pictures, text and phone. That very conveniently left out the issues that would have easily been spotted in person. I took him at his word. Thinking i could trust a fellow member. Boy was i wrong.

you put out 7k , and never went to look at it . a plane ticket would have save you money it seems . i never buy anything for that kind of money without looking with my eyes or a close buds view of it . and i've got stung by members of the f?bo . but never that kind of bucks . i just ate it and let all know what their all about . sorry you can't just trust everyone here .

File a claim in court for misrepresentation. You have the text messages as proof. At best he refunds your money or the judge will rule partial reimbursement and you keep the car. It’s up to you if you want to pursue this any farther or let him possibly screw someone else.

I saw him advertising stuff, tried to contact him about parts... He wasn't exactly ''responsive" I decided to go elsewhere, looks like I read it right... Sorry you have to deal with this... Glad you used a credit card... It should help...

The car does look really solid inthe pics. If the pillars were cut and rewelded. My question is was this a hardtop made into a vert?

Considering he was parting a vert & the picture posted above show a white rear section & a blue forward section... Thats a possibility...

I will be pursuing all possible options. First call it to the credit card company in the am.

Credit card company not likely to help you, especially if you bought it in another state.

thats kind of what i was wondering, esp with the welds in the trunk/top storage areas.

as far as the members goes,i just got thru helping a guy on tech and then watched as he went right down the list of replies and said ty to everyone But me...obviously on purpose.
and that was just a ty,much less people slinking around here being devious and outright lying.
so,theres all Kinds of people here..you just Have to look for the true mopar guys.

i think you have a solid case because of your texts pics and proof of deception as to condition of car.
so,id ask this,because usually,in these scenarios,
the seller has absconded with the loot and your chances are slim from him,so,
if they offer you partial recomp from credit card company,
will you keep the car if it comes back as a real convertible?

@GTXKID member since August. 19 posts, all for sale posts....
In other words, not exactly what I'd call representative of FBBO members -
he came here to unload stuff.
My car dealer friends used to preach it to me all the time:
"Never buy a car sight-unseen. If you can't lay your hands on it yourself, pay
someone professional to go do it for you - or don't buy it."

Unfortunately, there are some dishonest people out there........So sorry to hear about this.....

Not beating a dead horse but never purchase ANY car sight unseen.........

Who is the "other" bad apple you found?.......It helps everyone here to know just as you posted this thread....

Sorry to here this as well. It used to be you could trust most car people. But the car world has changed with the price and availability of the older cars. I got taken two years ago on a car I went to see. It didn't come with everything I seen when I looked at it. It is just the world we live in now. I hope you can come out on this. One thing you might do is contact the attorney general in your state. They do well in these type cases and even state boundaries don't matter. Ours went after a guy I bought something from on the east coast and got all my money back. Call yours they work for you and cost nothing.

The vin tag, and evidence so far point to a real vert. There is brown/gold in the untouched areas, evidence of a crash? Perhaps, but all speculation at this point. Ill do some more digging in the following days, but to answer you question yes, i had all intention to keep and build the car. I sold off about a grand of 66/67 stuff so far to pay for this car. So im committed, but now stuck in limbo.
okay good..so theres hope for the car yet.
meanwhile..im kind of blunt so im gonna say what i see.
ive just went and scoped all his ads and this vertible sale ad too.
first.i truly hope he sent you Way better pics then whats on his ads.
i never would have bought that car from pics inside a dimly lit garage.

did you look at this guys other sales/posts at all?
because, hes got some of the worst pics of stuff for sale ive ever seen.
a Lot of people who ask big money for stuff are like this,
shitty pics and only a few pics to boot if you are lucky.

furthemore, theres a Huge Red flag going off on All his parts and car sales topics because
that 1 wild R/T guy has Been pointing out that the guy is a no show for contact about stuff hes selling on every topic the guy has made.
huge...red...flag.
Tyvm btw @ 1 wild R/T for pointing that out to others, and Ty to Tn for posting his handle link.

final thought, the guy Does show a what appears? to be minty front windshield clip area,
perhaps if you reached some sort of agreement? that might fix your front at least?
