Ripped off on a car purchase by a member

okay good..so theres hope for the car yet.
meanwhile..im kind of blunt so im gonna say what i see.
ive just went and scoped all his ads and this vertible sale ad too.
first.i truly hope he sent you Way better pics then whats on his ads.
i never would have bought that car from pics inside a dimly lit garage.

did you look at this guys other sales/posts at all?
because, hes got some of the worst pics of stuff for sale ive ever seen.
a Lot of people who ask big money for stuff are like this,
shitty pics and only a few pics to boot if you are lucky.

furthemore, theres a Huge Red flag going off on All his parts and car sales topics because
that 1 wild R/T guy has Been pointing out that the guy is a no show for contact about stuff hes selling on every topic the guy has made.
huge...red...flag.
Tyvm btw @ 1 wild R/T for pointing that out to others, and Ty to Tn for posting his handle link.

final thought, the guy Does show a what appears? to be minty front windshield clip area,
perhaps if you reached some sort of agreement? that might fix your front at least?
Also all his ads are shut down.......

i think you should pm this fella named moparnation74 and have a convo about vin numbers in different areas of the body because hes somebody i would trust and Knows his stuff..
theres others here too, dont be afraid to ask.
there Are some Great members here.
Rob

Thanks for the shout out.....Odd thing is I actually talked to him earlier today. Which was about the thread I posted in the general section about some parts of mine....

So he has my number and is welcome anytime to give me a ring.......

Update/ revised. Car is not a convertible. Fraud. Explains why he sent the vin loose from the car with the title. He or someone welded in vert stuff

Trailer it back and get your money back. Is that possible?

Somebody would be getting a sever a$$ whooping.... to many times guys like this get away with and just move on laughing all the way, there has to be consequences for being a complete POS.

You need to find out if he truly is in Joliet, Illinois.... Get his addresses and phone numbers,
Contact law enforcement in Joliet, Illinois, if that is where he is from or works,
Bring all your paperwork, have all your evidence in order,
And if you want your $ 7000 refunded,
Bring the vehicle back to him, accompanied by law enforcement, and GET IT DONE, if nothing else works before that...
The trip will not cost you $ 7000 -- rent a U-Haul trailer...$18.95 a day... It'll take you 2 - 3 days round trip...
It is a bit of a pain in the tushy -- but it beats being
getting scammed........

welll...Frak.
at least you definitely have a case,
even maybe with the feds considering he altered the car and conspired and followed thru with a fraud.
might want to alert the local cops in his area as to what just happened to You and advise them hes selling other parts and cars and suggest to them perhaps it might be worth Their time to descend upon him.......you never know what that can of worms might turn up.

2013 we drove to Austin Texas to pick up a 66 Charger drag car done by Joe Smith. Car was supposed to be ready for pick up , including wildwood disc brake brakes.
A car guy from Austin looked at it and described it. We sent the deposit. Got to Austin, car wasn’t ready. We spent 6 hours getting it ready to load. While moving another car so we could get the Charger out my wife fell and hit her head. I thought the wildwood brakes were in the boxes, not so.
Another lesson learned, and my wife had a headache for two days. He said he would send the wild wood brakes, he forgot to put them in the car.
I have become very careful, the good people far outweigh the bad ones.
Keep at him (PPR persistence paralysis resistance )

Just got off the phone with cc, then opened paypal dispute (they were closed, no live person available). Thanks for the advice guys, my next call is to my laywer, and will go from there. I just simply cant believe it. In this day and age, as small as the world (and this hobby) has become, people like this have not been tarred and feathered and run out. I just hope and pray i get my hard earned money back. If anyone is in the Chicago area and wants to to a drive by scouting for me, pm me. I think im flying out soon, but going to let it simmer overnight, at least.

Well, if GTXkid is from Joliet they have a nice prison nearby with a little extra room....

Good news is you have a hard location where the driver picked up the car.... Hopefully that can be connected to this lowlife...

Good Luck, sorry you gotta deal with this kinda crap...

You should record all of the VIN numbers from the trunk lip, core support and the VIN plate itself. I know dashes can be swapped out. This will help you to ID what you have. If those numbers dont jive with the VIN plate its clear fraud.

Found the one on the trunk lip. And recorded earlier. We all know by now, but guess what? Not.even.close. Will look on the core support in the am. It’s heavily painted, so may not show up without some effort.

I just googled his number.. Oh boy there are a **** ton of mopar related ads out there with that number.

If this were a 68 the numbers wouldn't match the VIN, the stamped numbers are the VON... But starting in 69 the numbers are the VIN....
