Ripped off on a car purchase by a member

I don’t have to read through anything....I am on the same page but I won’t be a dumb azz and post things related to potential “harm”....

This day and age social media, texts etc become a weapon for other means...

Keep in mind scammers scam in many other ways than just cars...
Sorry....I can get carried away at times when I see **** like this happen to good people. I just wish our justice system was more dependable on this type of stuff then maybe crooks will think twice about doing the wrong thing......

I recently got screwed on a purchase. Less than 3 Grand though. Other than bad mouthing the seller, I don’t expect to recover. I’m looking more at the Caveat Emptor aspect. I could/should have done more research, asked more questions. Pity the poor bastard who buys my Coronet sight unseen when Linda sells it some day.

Wish i would have thought to do all this research before taking someone at his word...

Buying my Belvedere online caused me to feel the need to poke and prod every way I could think of to research the seller (FBBO and FABO member), in any way I could think of to do it, and more important than the pix of the car that were online. If I had found that he was pedalling stripped cars repeatedly in multiple sites, i'd have not gone through. Obviously it worked out better than this. But it was still a leap of faith and thank God, all I can say to the seller to this day, is "Thank You"!! And if he puts up stuff for sale, I would obviously throw in a kind word to support his credibility. Sometimes you have to remember, if you dont see anyone supporting a seller, you may want to PM a couple members you can trust and see what they say, before jumping in. HTH, Lefty71

Same person has an active eBay listing for reference. The ad has pictures of pictures.:realcrazy:

The IRS might be interested in this guy’s activities. But if they were to impound his business, goodbye to your refund.

Totally missed his ads. Only looked at one a bit ago and there's no price for anything on it. This is why we ask for stuff like this to be reported by clicking on the report button and then give a brief description of what y'all are seeing instead of just posting to the ad starter what they need to do. There are times (when time permits) where I'll look over an ad looking for something that might be shady such as a scam etc....especially if it's from a newbie or from people who only use the site for nothing other than selling stuff.

He is claiming ignorance with no morals to make things right.
He should take it back
Seeing the car breaks federal law being a rebody.
He called it a convertible and its not..
Ignorance is not a excuse..
I would have the cops
Knocking at his door if a full refund doesn't happen..

What is your relationship with the transport company? Where they recommended by you?

Was the hood on the car when you released it to the Jason the Transporter? Do you have pictures to prove that? Does the transporter have pictures to support that it was in their possession?

Was this the car in question?

What did you state about the body? What about prep for paint? So for someone that stated above I don't do bodywork then how can you realistically state the car is "almost ready for paint" and the body is "pretty solid"......

What does the "hood scoop" have to do with this situation? Any buyer can ask for a lesser price and you agreed to that and sold it...So that has zero relevance...

In the end your offering nothing to settle this professionally..

I have bought on here before, but , if you're that new to the site and selling, buyer beware. This sucks!!

Shipped a car for a buddy a couple of years ago. He took care of all the details and all I had to do was ready the car for when the truck showed up but this is one of the things that happened when he went to move this brand new Chevy pickup so the lighter weight car could go up to the top and all the way forward. By the time he got the Chevy out of the way, it was dark out and not much lighting to notice that the car ended up resting on his useless winch which did damage to the car while it was bound down on it in transit. This was supposed to be one of the more competent shippers....

GTXKID. I assumed this forum to be a (safer) place to buy. I wasn't really looking, but emotions got the best of me. I purchased the coronet convertible he listed on here. Price was agreed upon, and was assured in multiple conversations and text messages the trim was complete, that car was rust free, and he would send me everything we discussed. I was even told “i worry to much”. Well, instinct was acreaming this guy was a snake, bit emotion overrode sense. Car was delivered today. Missing the hood, which is now in a pissing match between the driver, the seller, and the insurance company. Better yet, missing the convertible trim pieces i was assured multiple time would be included. The seat, is falling apart from rust. Was told “its solid”. The icing? The a pillars have been cut and slovenly welded back. The top sits 1/2” lower then the other two b body verts i have here. HOW IN THE HELL does this not come up when asked repeatedly if the car had any major issue or repairs. He claims he never saw it... What a clusterfuck. Michael has just stopped responding to my texts, and claims he cannot talk, at work. I know nothing can be fixed tonight, but my next call is my credit card company. Here i sit, the sucker, out almost 7k for a pile. Really perplexed. From a member here? I know there are bad apples everywhere. But ive found two within a month. On here.

Sorry to see this. The fact that is was a hardtop and someone took another convertible car and title made it a convertible WILL easily stand up in court. He knew EXACTLY what he was selling. You would have to be a complete idiot not to see what was done. If just the a-pillars were cut I would say it was shipped overseas as they cut a-pillars so they can ship 2 cars in a container but that one is cut to high from what I have seen when they do it...

The GTX kid will settle between Jason and Me not this forumn I respect all badmouthing and trashing me Jason and I made deal not you so be careful what you say I will not read anymore on this closing down per my lawyer

Back in the redline hot wheels collecting days. You had to be a on sight member for a year prior to making sales. And you had to be a contributor in threads so that members were able to get to know who you were. Conversation in threads says alot of a persons character and if there good folks. Most that tryied to post items for sale without good posting numbers and less than a year had there sales cancelled. When you spend agrand plus for a redline you want to make sure the person your buying from is a straight up person. There profiles have to be completely filled out

You lawyered up quickly
Watch out for the karma bus

Are you talking 1st person, 2nd person and third person in the same run on sentence? Kind of confusing... Glad you got a lawyer that will help the OP get his money back faster..

I don't think anyone was bad mouthing. I think for the most part everyone was looking out for a fellow Mopar enthusiast. I understand that most people here are third, fourth and fifth party to your conversation and we dont know all the details. But you have to remember people look out for one another. And nobody wants to see another guy get taken for a hack job that was misrepresented.

Well, gtxkid SAYS he is going to settle with you.......

jdakrt --- we are ALL interested to know that you get squared away when all is said and done.
*** DO what you have to do, jdakrt **** and let us all know what happens.....

And the 77 responses on this thread, so far, will be added evidence (and support) for your file....

And we ALL know you will never do this again -- and never buy so much as a lock washer from gtxkid ever again!!!!!

(gtxkid's skills -- typing, English, etc. etc. Leave much to be desired -- it is clear from his responses that he never went to Yale or Harvard......)
