I figured to start this thread to maybe help someone out
instead of putting more restrictions on the sellers here as many have mentioned
in a few threads.
it is up to the buyer to do his due diligence and homework.
there are things to ask that go beyond someone's trader rating.
if you don't it is easy to not get what you are wanting
here are a few of mine
I hope others chime in with more

1. if any of your questions are not being directly answered
or you have to repeat them more then once.. red flag
2.ask for specific details , not general questions to the items condition.
pin the details down, do not take a general description as a valid answer.
3. don't be afraid to ask for a opinion or help
there are many people here that would go look at something for nothing
I have done it myself on many occasions.
I have looked at a dozen cars over the years for people
many don't mind looking out for their fellow hobbyist

4. know and fully educate yourself on the item you are buying
many items are unique one year only parts
and sometimes the only difference is a small minor detail.
also repops usually will fall short
do research before you buy them.
for instance
I have a pile of repop parts I will never use.. just wasted money
if I took the time to ask around before I assumed
the pile would be a lot smaller.
5. don't let emotions or the its the only one in the world
force you into a fast or bad decision.
most of the time there will always be another one that will come down the pike.

there will always be people out there that want to rip you off
lets make it a bit harder for them and be a little smarter about buying.
what tips do you guys have?

seeing that people are calling out to put more restrictions on sellers
punishing them for buyers not doing their homework
it appears that it is needed..

Here is a good one not on your list --- I willingly give out my phone number --- in fact, on this forum they frown on putting your phone number right in the thread -- and have to " P.M." to do it...
You may have seen me answer " How dare I be up front and honest" !!!!!!
If you don't have a valid phone number -- that to me
is red flag # 1......

A friend and I went and inspected a 69 Charger for a member here a week or so ago. I just made a list of the good and the bad. The seller was cooperative and arranged for the car to be put on a lift and told us what he knew about the history of the car. I made no reference about money to either party, just my honest description of what I saw. The seller didn't hang over our shoulder and offer any explanations of what we were looking at. I presented everything to the buyer as I saw it. His decision is still out on that car. The possible buyer and I continue to talk as he comes up with additional questions. He is buying a car the right way in my opinion.
1. Having the car inspected
2. Researching the car
3. Estimating the cost of repairs to his budget
4. He knows what he wants not just a impulse buy
All these things are critical to making a good purchase.

How about educating the dumb ***, ignorant buyers who don't know WTF they're doing when buying a car!
