Hello everyone, I am thinking about purchasing a 69 Charger RT. There is no fender tag and no build sheet. I have already determined that the engine and transmission do not match. The car does have a four-speed. My only question is how can you determine if the car originally came with a four-speed? Are there any tips out there that will help me determine this? Do factory four-speed cars have something about them that the automatics did not have aside from the obvious? It does have an XS29 vin that matches the radiator support and rear quarters. I just can’t tell if it’s an original 4 speed car.
Thanks

Without the original engine and trans, fender tag or build sheet, why would you care about whether its an original 4-speed car ?!?! About the only thing "certain" is that its a Charger!

AND R/T AT THAT

The trans tunnel is completely different from an auto tunnel. My 67 has a widening where the stick comes through the tunnel.
Send a picture of the tunnel. I have a picture, but have to figure out how to post it.

If original 440 4-speed it would have a 26 inch radiator opening and non a/c firewall.

No picture, can anyone tell me what went wrong, or tell me how to get the pictures posted?
Thanks. If you pm me Dennis, I should be able to send you a picture.

Is the car apart ? Just look at the openings for the linkage and shifter, easy to see if it was factory.

The clutch pedal bracket support in the engine compartment was spot welded on at the factory on 4-speed cars. On a conversion, chances are very high that it is just setting in place.

Thank you all for your replies. To answer some of your questions, yes, the car has a Dana 60. The car did not have AC. It did have 4 wheel drum brakes but was converted to discs. I was looking at the photo referencing the clutch pedal support which should be welded if it’s an original 4 speed car. I was unable to figure out in that photo what I should be looking for.
Thanks

Check the clutch bell crank frame bracket to see if the welds look factory or more of an add on piece.
