69 Super Bee Rebuild (my way)

I think I may have got them from Richard 69Bfan
Sent him a pm, but haven't heard back yet. I even talked to Tom at RT Specialties and he hasn't had them for years. Figured if he couldn't find some, nobody could.

Got a call this evening that my motor got dyno'd today. I'm quite happy and even Brian was surprised what it did with the short Weiand intake. 595 hp and 608 ft lbs of torque. He has a bit more tuning to do next week, but this will be real close to the final numbers.

What a day this has been around here. Got the call saying the motor is about done and my buddy just sent pics saying the body is done and ready to go home.

I'm kind of digging it too. Now I have to decide on white or black for the rump stripe.

Update on the vent wing window pivot spacers and washers. Talked to Richard and he will have new ones in production and for sale by March.

Personally I think a white stripe would pop the best and with black interior, it would be a great combo. Your buddy have a shop that is open to the public or just friends?

That engine is going to make a very sweet ride a hell of a lot of fun too.

Pretty much just friends. He is 60 now and worked for several body shops including Muscle Car Restoration for years as well as doing old cars on the side in his shop. He is one of the minority who would rather work on old cars instead of collision work. He went on his own 2 years ago and has been backlogged since. The past year he doesn't even work for anybody unless you are a past customer.

Looks like I was pretty close on the torque! When I was doing the research for mine, I came to the conclusion that the stroker would only net me more torque, so I stayed with the std 440. That thing will be a beast!

It should be a blast. Unfortunately for me the power output nudged me to having to source a 18 spline tranny. Also went with 3" exhaust, Dana rearend, and a twin disc clutch. Kind of sucks because I already had a rebuilt 23 spline ready to go as well as the original 8 3/4 that I rebuilt. Oh well, good to have some spare stuff laying around.

That should make it bullet proof! That 3" exhaust gets tight around the Dana & gas tank.

You know, that's what I heard too. Even called TTi to inquire about running 3" through the mufflers and then going to 2.5" tailpipes. Both the owner as well as the tech guy told me that was a bad idea and not recommended. Although they would make it if I demanded, for an additional $150. Assured me I would have no issues with 3" all the way. I hope not.

Over 3 hours to scuff and tape off the whole car. All for 10 minutes of spraying a little black. Now nobody can give me a hard time for seeing body color through my grill.

Well done! I invested only one hour in taping and found some overspray on top of fenders after doing mine... :D
That is my worst fear. I have to do it all over again to spray the front wheel wells with undercoating. That stuff really makes me nervous as it goes on with a high pressure and likes to get everywhere.

Luckily it was still fresh so I was able to remove it carefully with thinner.
I'm with you - just take some extra time to do a final check with a flashlight that you covered every hole in the fender and especially in the firewall. ;-)
