Insurance common knowledge?

Restrictions still in play, too.
Is this what is disagreed with? Or, what?

I attempted to get a quote from Geico many, many years ago, just on the cars we had. I was told I didn't qualify, and they would not give me a quote. Maybe things have changed.

Anyone know anything about American Collectors?

That Allstate commercial in post #17 sure reminds me of "Big Brother" watching us in the science fiction (horror?) novel "1984"!

P.S.
The problem with stuff like that is those who use it don't need it and those who need it don't use it or ignore it anyway (same thing like "$1000 Fine for Littering" highway signs-still waiting to read a story about even ONE conviction ever rendered by a judge for that offense/penalty).

Allstate use to be very good, that changed years back when they screwed their agents. I had the same agent for over 25 years, he was terrific, a honest good man who was always there for us.
Not so any more, just profit related and your just another number

Yeah, they suck about taking care of you, they only want your money!!!! Every year they will up your premium as well as your agreed value weather you want them to or not! By as much as a $3000+ a year on your value. They say that it's a appreciation adjustment and will do it without your approval, even after you tell them NOT to. It was a every year for 15 years occurrence. Then when I moved and I immediately notified them of my move to make appropriate changes to my policy, they never sent me a renewal notice, never updated my change of address, but instead gave me a notification of cancellation a couple months later for non payment of premium! When I queried them about it, they had never updated my info or anything else, boy did I ever give them a hard time about it. **** them and the horse they rode in on!! I still need to find a good replacement company.

Who the hell would allow an insurance company to plug into your OBD2? Invasive. No way.

Discussion on insurance pop up every so often and I read them to discover what I don’t know. Shopping around does seem like sounds advice and usually happens when the sticker shock sinks in. Also reading the fine print is imperative (but I’m guilty of not following through). My question or input is I have my 2 cars insured with Condon&Skelly which is Met Life. It seems very reasonable but knock on wood I haven’t had to make a claim. I’ve had them for many years.
I haven’t seen them discussed. So........

What the hell is there to disagree about with this statement? What am I missing, or does someone have fat finger syndrome and not care??

I know that you said that you like to look a person in their eyes, but you should search online. An agent is ALWAYS going to be more expensive because they have to get their cut. Try Geico, Progressive, etc. You will definitely save some money.
In the toilet bowl of horrible insurance companies, those two are among the worst. For various reasons.

I have Geico on my pick-up and my wife's car. They have been great for all the years that I have had them and save me money every year.

I'm glad to hear and hope your good experience continues. They force crap aftermarket and used parts on customer vehicles during repair. Progressive is really bad. But, there's also the political side of these two companies. I wouldn't pay them a penny of my money.

Yep, I've been with the lizard for many, many years and never had a problem. I guess we're the lucky ones?

Years ago, back when 55 was the national speed limit, and EVERYBODY was speeding, I read that geico donated a bunch of radar guns to California hwy patrol, sheriffs depts, and local pd, for their speed traps "to make California safer". Bullshit. More tickets-higher premiums-more money for geico. Piss on geico, I'd rather give anybody else my money.

I had Condon & Skelly for the GTX. Great policy and rate was good too. They’re not MetLife though. They’re a subsidiary of Ironshore. Which is a specialty risk company. They’re a fine co.

High rates to protect the Brother sitting in the middle of the intersection with Hellcats smoldering by.
He is a very good actor but he's working for a very iffy Insurance Company. Just sayin'...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Dennis I understand your point on this. However, when I moved up here to Reno, my truck insurance was with Geico, and my homeowners was with Liberty Mutual which Geico brokered at that time. So I went that route until I found out that Liberty Mutual directly was far cheaper than Geico brokering the homeowners. So I went direct with them and rolled my tuck insurance over as well. Well being a Senior Citizen now and on a fixed income, Liberty began raising my truck insurance premium based on the assumed mileage that I and the national average of miles driven were doing. I informed them that I am retired and I do not drive much and for very short trips. They had a plane where they supplied a monitor the utilized my OBDII for the actual mileage I was driving and low and behold, I was way below that average. It was for a 3 month period and then afterwards they reduced my premium rates and refunded the overcharge in my premium. In this case it worked out perfectly. But I will admit I at first was skeptical of this and after the results were in, I was very satisfied. Now there is motions afoot to monitor all driving so that States can tax you now for what you drive. BS!!!:bs_flag: :bs_flag::bs_flag:The can kiss my rear end as that is nothing more than Government over reach and the Dems here in Nevada are the ones promoting this crap. If that were the case I would refuse to register my vehicles and drive when ever I choose but that being said, I run the risk of far greater outcomes because of my not paying. So what's a person to do? Get rid of every FOOKING DEMOCRAT and eliminate their Party 100%. They have been messing things up since ther inception in the early 19th century...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Thanks for the reply @GtxX’d.
With this company on the Satellite convertible the premium is $100 a year for $20k agreed, with $500 deductible. I’ll have to check on mileage limits

Responses are eye-opening. Appreciate it, guys! A real crap shoot.

My original post, was mainly about the age related, unfair increases. What the hell am I looking for? A FAIR amount for insurance. Sure, I know it's something that's actually needed, just in case.

My wife was a 'higher-up' working for MetLife, and even after retiring, very good to their people. Just last week, got an offer from them for auto insurance. Pretty high up there...no go.

Allstate, good or bad, dropped the total rates for all three vehicles, almost half. So, I'm covered, have some breathing room, and yep, gonna look around. Hell, I might even call Geico.
Our Allstate agent told us things...how Allstate wants to 'weed out' independent agents, and go straight to online, or the damn telephone...nothing else.

So, anyway, that's where I'm at.

AAA in Northern California seems reasonable, but I have not done comparison shopping lately. I only carry liability.

Who has filed a claim, and how did they handle it?
Filed claim with Haggerty for some hail damage on the Jensen Interceptor and didn't have any problems, but took the cash they were paying towards PDR, because I am going to re-paint the car anyway.
It seems they charge about 1% of the agreed value per year. So for my 3 (insured) cars with a combined value of $80,000 I think I pay about $800/year.
